What's new in the realm
Every update to Majic Realm, newest first. We're in open beta, so new things arrive all the time!
Gear worth hunting for
NewBeta
Creatures now drop armor and weapons that match their level, in five tiers, with armor sets that grow stronger the more pieces you wear. Far-away trees and rocks are lighter to draw, and View distance is back in Settings.
New
- Creatures drop gear that matches their level. Armor and weapons come in five tiers, and each tier needs a level to wear: 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50.
- Armor comes in sets of five pieces. Wear 2, 4 or all 5 pieces of a set for a bonus that grows each time. Your bag shows how many you have on and what each bonus is.
- One dropped piece in ten is Gilded: a little stronger, and worth three times as much.
- Bosses drop more. A dungeon boss gives two pieces, the last boss of a dungeon gives four, and a world boss gives two or three to everyone who helped.
- Your bag has eight places to wear things: head, chest, hands, legs, feet, weapon, off hand and trinket.
- View distance is in Settings, under Graphics: Near, Medium, Far or Farthest, with the real distance beside the word. What you pick is exactly how far you see, and Farthest is farther than it used to be.
Better
- Smoother in the woods and on the open road: far-away trees and rocks are lighter to draw.
- Gear you find is more often the kind you already wear, and you never get a piece you already hold.
- Dropped gear can be listed at the Trading Post, and the items page shows every armor set.
Your whole character in a dungeon
Beta
Inside a dungeon you now have your bag, hotbar, spells, tonics, chat and party list; doors open when a room's boss is down; and the dungeon's trader sells.
New
- Your bag and hotbar come into the dungeon with you. Cast your spells, sip your tonics (each one has to cool down before the next), and your gear and guard are on.
- Chat works inside a dungeon, with the same rules as outside, and your party list shows each friend and how they are doing.
- A door opens when the boss of its room is down, so the way on is really open.
- The trader in a dungeon sells things now: walk up, press E and take a look.
- A dungeon run is kept safe when the game is updated. A party that was part way through finds the rooms it beat still beaten and the doors still open.
Better
- Spells are a real way to play a dungeon: a party of casters can clear one from the first room to the last boss.
- If the room you were in goes away while you are in it, you are sent back to the door you came in by.
Fixed
- A character with a quest for you shows it when you talk to them: the quest's name, what it asks, the reward and an Accept button. Before, only the chat opened and the quest never appeared.
- A quest you are part way through shows its next step when you talk to the character who gave it, and a quest you cannot take yet tells you why.
- The party list and party invites keep working inside a dungeon, whoever is in your party.
You grow stronger with every level
Beta
Your health and your power now grow with your level, a creature's level tells you if you are ready for it, and your bag shows your Health, Attack power and Guard.
New
- Every level makes you stronger: more health and harder hits. A level-up card tells you what grew.
- Your bag shows your Health, Attack power and Guard. Point at one to see where it comes from: your weapon, your level and your Strength.
- A creature of your own level is a fair fight at every level, and creatures far below you go down in one hit.
- Spells, hits, knock-outs, level-ups, loot and gathering have new sparks, bursts and glows that are easy to read, on phones too.
Better
- Creature levels now match yours. The numbers over creatures and the level ranges on the map changed once so that they mean the same as your own level.
- Spells keep up with swords at every level.
- Resting, tonics and meals give back a share of your health, so they stay useful as you grow. Falls and bumps cost a share too.
Dungeons that play start to finish, pictures for your items, and a rounder world
Beta
Dungeons play from the portal to the last boss, items have pictures in your bag, lakes and islands are rounded, and the world ends in cliffs and mountains.
New
- The edge of the world is cliffs and mountains on land, and rocks and a reef at sea, instead of an invisible wall. Fly too high and you rise into the clouds.
- Waves break on the beaches.
- Roadside fences can be knocked down like the rest of the scenery, and they grow back.
- Items have their own pictures in your bag, on your hotbar, at crafting stations and at the Trading Post, and a small picture shows when you pick something up.
- Dungeon bosses call in helpers, and a bigger party meets a bigger fight.
Better
- Lakes, ponds and islands have rounded, sandy shores instead of square corners.
- Woods, fields and meadows have soft, natural edges, and trees no longer stand in rows.
- The thickest fog is lighter now, so you can still see your street in it.
- A slow device keeps trying to speed itself up instead of giving up after one try.
Fixed
- Inside a dungeon you fight with the weapon you are holding, and your attacks land.
- Knocked out in a dungeon? You get back up at the door of the room your party is in, with nothing lost. If the whole party is knocked out, that room starts over.
- Clearing a dungeon again pays again, a finished run shows the party out, and the minimap shows the rooms while you are inside.
A rounder world with a real edge
Beta
Lakes and islands are rounded, woods and fields have soft edges, the world ends in cliffs and mountains, and roadside fences can be knocked down.

Dungeons you can walk into and play
Beta
The five dungeons now load and play once you step through the portal, with a party of up to five.
Fixed
- Dungeons now work once you step through the portal: you and your party can move, fight and see each other inside, and the room is drawn on its own instead of the open world around it.
- The Drowned Lantern's portal is now at Gullrock Light in Saltmere, where its quest sends you.
- A daily quest that shared its name with another now counts on its own.
Tooltips for everything, and a guide the first time you meet anything new
Beta
Point at anything to learn what it is; a short guide shows the first time you meet something new; and your quests always say what to do next.
New
- Point at anything, or hold a finger on it, and a small box tells you what it is, where it comes from and what it is for.
- The first time you meet something new - swimming, a rock to mine, a station, a boat, a merchant - a short guide shows. Tap Skip to put it away. Settings, then Help, brings every guide back.
- Your quests box now always tells you what to do next, and an arrow shows the way.
- Guides use your own keys, or your phone's buttons.
- A short guide shows for the camera views (Follow behind, Locked, Over the shoulder), and every button on the map says what it does.
- Merchants, the mailbox, quest purses and the Trade Token each have a short guide too (the Trade Token's is for players 13 and up), and Settings, then Help, shows them with the Trading Post's own walk-through.
Fixed
- On phones, a guide stays on screen above an open panel instead of hiding behind it.
Townsfolk who know the dungeons and the sea
Beta
Ask anyone about the dungeons, the shipwrecks, the megalodon or the ballgames, and they know the answer and the way.
New
- Ask a townsperson about the dungeons: where the nearest portal is, what level it is for, how many friends to bring and what it drops. They put an arrow on your map to the portal.
- They also know where the shipwrecks lie and when their chests fill again, when the ballgames play, and that the megalodon can be ridden at level 50.
Characters who know the way, a sea full of life, and towns that look the part
Beta
Ask anyone where something is and they point the way with an arrow on your map; the Sunfish Isles' sea comes alive with shipwrecks and a megalodon; towns fill with people; and Lotus River, Emberfall, Thornwood and Sundown Gulch look the part.
New
- Ask a townsperson where something is - the market, a cave, the nearest Trading Post - and they tell you the way and put an arrow on your map that clears when you get there.
- The characters know the game: what a shop sells, where a quest starts, what a recipe needs and where to find it.
- Everything you can use plays its own move and does something: sitting rests you, a campfire warms you, a notice board teaches a tip, and some things turn up a small find.
- New things to do in the world: drink, wash, sing, search, water plants and feed animals.
- Settings has a new Help page: Things to do in the world.
- Lotus River's houses and shops have tiled porch roofs hung with red and gold lanterns.
- Emberfall is a town of ivory towers with tall spires, gold trim and glowing windows.
- Thornwood's homes are log cabins with porches and stone chimneys, with treehouses, campsites and little camper trailers around town.
- Sundown Gulch has tall false fronts over wooden boardwalks, horses at the hitching rails, and horses pulling every cart, stagecoach and wagon.
- The hot air balloons are real balloons now: striped, with baskets, ropes and burners.
- The heroes have their own looks, and castle-town, wizard-town and woodland folk dress for where they live.
- Every lot that's for sale has a For Sale sign: walk up and press E to see it in the store.
- The sea round the Sunfish Isles is full of life: reefs, kelp forests, fish, rays, turtles, jellyfish, dolphins, reef sharks, divers and whales.
- Seven shipwrecks lie on the bottom, each with a chest of sunken treasure to search every few hours.
- Watch out for the megalodon: it swallows swimmers and spits them out on the beach. Reach level 50 and you can ride it.
- The cargo ship out past the islands carries a themed load each crossing: search the crates on its deck from the air, or swim out to the crates it loses over the side.
- Smugglers' Cove has a jetty, a pirate ship at anchor, cannons, a treasure chest and a pirate crew.
- Farm animals live in their own fenced paddocks.
- The ballparks play two games a day, with a crowd and the score on the big screen.
- Soccer pitches in Basecamp, Thornwood, Emberfall and the plains.
- More rare, epic and legendary critters, and a beam of light shows where one is.
- Floodlights at the gyms, courts, pitches and beach clubs, and lamps along the boardwalks.
- More people in every town, and parks, markets, villages and beach clubs with people, picnics, kites, playgrounds and beach umbrellas.
Changed
- The Terms of Service explain the Builder tier subscription: the price, renewal, and how to cancel.
Fixed
- The flags at the stadium no longer float in the air.

Five dungeons, a new touch layout for phones and tablets, and caves worth exploring
Beta
Five dungeons to clear with your party, each with its own story, bosses and a legendary reward the first time; a new touch layout for phones and tablets; and the caves, mines and other material sites rebuilt.
New
- Five dungeons: walk through the portal with your party and the dungeon is yours alone. The Last Gold Mine under Sundown Gulch, The Drowned Lantern by Saltmere, The Rootbound Court in Thornwood, The Bell Beneath the Keep under Stonewatch and The Emberheart Vault in Emberfall.
- Each dungeon has its own story, its own creatures and bosses, and a quest chain whose reward is a legendary the first time you finish it, and points every time after.
- A new layout for phones and tablets: a dock with Chat, Home, Jetpack, Store, Bag and Menu, everything else as big tiles in the Menu, and panels that open as sheets. Every button is easy to tap, upright or on its side.
- Caves, mines, the grotto, the grove, the quarry, the crater and the caldera rebuilt: rock walls and roofs, stalactites, crystals and lanterns, timber supports and ore carts.
Over-the-shoulder camera, vehicles that cross zones, a new map, and a drive-in in every land
Beta
A third camera view, every vehicle crossing into the next zone with you, a new map with travel, a drive-in theater in every land, more creature camps out in the country, and smoother play.
New
- A third camera view, Over the shoulder: aim with the mouse, swap shoulders with 9, and cycle views with V. On a phone, a camera button cycles them.
- Every vehicle crosses into the next zone with you: cars, boats, jet skis, planes, dragons and the jetpack.
- A new map: place names, creature camps colored by how dangerous they are for your level, travel to places you have visited, and a legend to show or hide each kind of thing.
- A drive-in theater in every land, each with its own lineup of family-friendly videos.
- More creature camps and wild settlements out in the country, and treasure in smarter places.
Smoother
- No more freezes while the game prepares new effects, other players and cars move evenly, and your graphics card does less work every frame.
Fixes
- The crate in Saltmere's delivery quest can be picked up again.
- The camera no longer slips through cave roofs.
- A pet's treat offer shows when you point at the pet, not just when you walk past.
- Cars can drive through shallow water, and planes no longer drop you at a zone border.
Thousands of new things to find, and a big batch of fixes
Beta
Nearly 2,000 new things to find, fight, catch and furnish with, 2,000 new lines of goods at the town stalls, new guides and tips, and about 175 fixes.
New
- Nearly 2,000 new things: furniture for your home, weapons, armor, treasures, animals, critters to catch and new creatures in the wild.
- The market stalls in every town carry new lines of goods, about 2,000 of them.
- New guide lines and tips that point you to the next step.
Fixes
- About 175 fixes across the game: panels that covered buttons, quests that said too little, the camera, the map, vehicles, sounds and more.
- A town merchant could open with nothing to sell on some days. Every counter has goods now.
- The game could freeze when your car nudged a car someone had just taken from the traffic.
Behind the scenes: getting ready to sell the Builder tier
BetaBehind the scenes
Work you can't see yet: the Builder tier's subscription is built and waiting to be switched on, and our test machines check more fixes at once.
What changed
- Nothing you can see yet.
The Trading Post, merchants, and quests that pay
Beta
A Trading Post in every major town to bid, buy and sell with other players, merchants in every town who buy and sell, a purse of points on every quest, and the Trade Token.
New
- The Trading Post: a real building in every major town, with an auctioneer inside. Press E to browse every listing, bid or buy now, and sell what you have for 12, 24 or 48 hours. Every Trading Post shares one market.
- What you win or sell waits in your mailbox at any Trading Post. Outbid? Your points come back there too.
- Price history for anything, and a suggested price when you sell.
- The house lists new things every hour, from everyday goods to collectibles, curios, rare finds and now and then a gilded piece, so the market is always changing.
- Merchants in every town: a General Goods trader, a Grocer, a Toolmonger and a Junk Buyer, and every stall seller now sells their own town's goods and buys yours.
- Every quest and campaign finale now pays a purse of points to spend, on top of its usual reward. It does not change how fast you level.
- The Trade Token: buy one in the store and sell it on the Trading Post for points, or keep it as store credit. Points never turn back into money. Not for players under 13.
- Settings has Help and How to Play, and your first visit to the Trading Post walks you through it.
Fixes
- Small fixes and polish across the game.

A new trailer, and family pings that reach family
Beta
A new trailer on the home page, and a "meet me here" ping or a Home stone trip now reaches your family as well as your friends.
New
- A new trailer on the home page: Build Mode, the quest arrow, chopping, the forge, fishing, the caves, cars, boats and races.
Fixed
- A "meet me here" ping reaches your family, and the Home stone can take you to them, even when they are not on your friends list.
Parties, levels to 50, dragons, and building anywhere
Beta
Team up in parties and share quests, climb to level 50 through five new material tiers and new caves, mines and quarries, ride a dragon, and on the Builder tier build anywhere in the realm.
New
- Ride a dragon: four of them wait at Kindlecrest, take off and land like a helicopter, and breathe fire at creatures.
- The ambulance at every hospital can be driven, and the hospital's doctor or paramedic will patch you up for free.
- The toy blasters shoot foam darts and confetti.
- Parties of up to five: press U to invite friends, share quests from your quest log, and talk on Party chat with /p. Kills, finds and talks near your party count for everyone on the quest.
- Some of the campaign's big quests are better with a party, and pay a one-time bonus when you finish one together. Every one can still be done alone.
- The Home stone can take you to your party's leader.
- Levels and every skill now go up to 50, with five new tiers of materials and gear: Deepforged, Tempered, Radiant, Starborn and Heartfire.
- New places to gather the deep materials, each with its own creatures and a guide: Mossy Hollow Cave, Echo Cave, Deepdelve Mine, Ironbark Grove, the Sunken Grotto, Red Mesa Quarry, the Glowcave's Depths, the Starfall Crater dig and the Heartfire Caldera. The Deep Road quest leads you through them.
- Rare gilded finds: a gold look and a little more experience.
- On the Builder tier, Build Mode works anywhere out in the world: press Y off your lot. Roads, doors, other people's lots and the like are kept clear.
- Market stallholders have their own trades, say what they sell, and their stalls show it.
- Bigger basketballs and soccer balls, a bigger hoop, and a dotted line that shows where your shot will go.
- Every lot has a real street address instead of a code.
- While you swim, the keys to swim up and dive stay on the screen.
- A bug report can show your screen's panels and buttons in its picture.
Fixed
- Pushing a parked car is smooth now: the car you hit moves with yours instead of snapping back, any bump moves it, and a small prop hit slowly is damaged, then broken by a second bump.
- Propellers and helicopter rotors spin, and pilots lean with their aircraft.
- The tire squeal plays only while you brake or corner hard.
- A falling-star shower's beam now stands where its stars land.
- Fish-folk and crabs follow you into the water; other creatures stop at the shore and give up if you stay out of reach.
- The Home stone always takes you after its three seconds, even in a busy place.
- A helicopter parked on a roof comes down with its building instead of hanging in the air, and a knocked-over arcade machine takes its glowing screen with it.
- No more "Sit on" prompts where there is nothing to sit on.
