What's new in the realm
Every update to Majic Realm, newest first. We're in open beta, so new things arrive all the time!
Gear worth hunting for
NewBeta
Creatures now drop armor and weapons that match their level, in five tiers, with armor sets that grow stronger the more pieces you wear. Far-away trees and rocks are lighter to draw, and View distance is back in Settings.
New
- Creatures drop gear that matches their level. Armor and weapons come in five tiers, and each tier needs a level to wear: 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50.
- Armor comes in sets of five pieces. Wear 2, 4 or all 5 pieces of a set for a bonus that grows each time. Your bag shows how many you have on and what each bonus is.
- One dropped piece in ten is Gilded: a little stronger, and worth three times as much.
- Bosses drop more. A dungeon boss gives two pieces, the last boss of a dungeon gives four, and a world boss gives two or three to everyone who helped.
- Your bag has eight places to wear things: head, chest, hands, legs, feet, weapon, off hand and trinket.
- View distance is in Settings, under Graphics: Near, Medium, Far or Farthest, with the real distance beside the word. What you pick is exactly how far you see, and Farthest is farther than it used to be.
Better
- Smoother in the woods and on the open road: far-away trees and rocks are lighter to draw.
- Gear you find is more often the kind you already wear, and you never get a piece you already hold.
- Dropped gear can be listed at the Trading Post, and the items page shows every armor set.
Your whole character in a dungeon
Beta
Inside a dungeon you now have your bag, hotbar, spells, tonics, chat and party list; doors open when a room's boss is down; and the dungeon's trader sells.
New
- Your bag and hotbar come into the dungeon with you. Cast your spells, sip your tonics (each one has to cool down before the next), and your gear and guard are on.
- Chat works inside a dungeon, with the same rules as outside, and your party list shows each friend and how they are doing.
- A door opens when the boss of its room is down, so the way on is really open.
- The trader in a dungeon sells things now: walk up, press E and take a look.
- A dungeon run is kept safe when the game is updated. A party that was part way through finds the rooms it beat still beaten and the doors still open.
Better
- Spells are a real way to play a dungeon: a party of casters can clear one from the first room to the last boss.
- If the room you were in goes away while you are in it, you are sent back to the door you came in by.
Fixed
- A character with a quest for you shows it when you talk to them: the quest's name, what it asks, the reward and an Accept button. Before, only the chat opened and the quest never appeared.
- A quest you are part way through shows its next step when you talk to the character who gave it, and a quest you cannot take yet tells you why.
- The party list and party invites keep working inside a dungeon, whoever is in your party.
You grow stronger with every level
Beta
Your health and your power now grow with your level, a creature's level tells you if you are ready for it, and your bag shows your Health, Attack power and Guard.
New
- Every level makes you stronger: more health and harder hits. A level-up card tells you what grew.
- Your bag shows your Health, Attack power and Guard. Point at one to see where it comes from: your weapon, your level and your Strength.
- A creature of your own level is a fair fight at every level, and creatures far below you go down in one hit.
- Spells, hits, knock-outs, level-ups, loot and gathering have new sparks, bursts and glows that are easy to read, on phones too.
Better
- Creature levels now match yours. The numbers over creatures and the level ranges on the map changed once so that they mean the same as your own level.
- Spells keep up with swords at every level.
- Resting, tonics and meals give back a share of your health, so they stay useful as you grow. Falls and bumps cost a share too.
Dungeons that play start to finish, pictures for your items, and a rounder world
Beta
Dungeons play from the portal to the last boss, items have pictures in your bag, lakes and islands are rounded, and the world ends in cliffs and mountains.
New
- The edge of the world is cliffs and mountains on land, and rocks and a reef at sea, instead of an invisible wall. Fly too high and you rise into the clouds.
- Waves break on the beaches.
- Roadside fences can be knocked down like the rest of the scenery, and they grow back.
- Items have their own pictures in your bag, on your hotbar, at crafting stations and at the Trading Post, and a small picture shows when you pick something up.
- Dungeon bosses call in helpers, and a bigger party meets a bigger fight.
Better
- Lakes, ponds and islands have rounded, sandy shores instead of square corners.
- Woods, fields and meadows have soft, natural edges, and trees no longer stand in rows.
- The thickest fog is lighter now, so you can still see your street in it.
- A slow device keeps trying to speed itself up instead of giving up after one try.
Fixed
- Inside a dungeon you fight with the weapon you are holding, and your attacks land.
- Knocked out in a dungeon? You get back up at the door of the room your party is in, with nothing lost. If the whole party is knocked out, that room starts over.
- Clearing a dungeon again pays again, a finished run shows the party out, and the minimap shows the rooms while you are inside.
A rounder world with a real edge
Beta
Lakes and islands are rounded, woods and fields have soft edges, the world ends in cliffs and mountains, and roadside fences can be knocked down.
New
- The edge of the world is cliffs and mountains on land, and rocks and a reef at sea, instead of an invisible wall. Fly too high and you rise into the clouds.
- Waves break on the beaches.
- Roadside fences can be knocked down like the rest of the scenery, and they grow back.

- The thickest fog is lighter now, so you can still see your street in it.
- A slow device keeps trying to speed itself up instead of giving up after one try.
Dungeons you can walk into and play
Beta
The five dungeons now load and play once you step through the portal, with a party of up to five.
Fixed
- Dungeons now work once you step through the portal: you and your party can move, fight and see each other inside, and the room is drawn on its own instead of the open world around it.
- The Drowned Lantern's portal is now at Gullrock Light in Saltmere, where its quest sends you.
- A daily quest that shared its name with another now counts on its own.
Tooltips for everything, and a guide the first time you meet anything new
Beta
Point at anything to learn what it is; a short guide shows the first time you meet something new; and your quests always say what to do next.
New
- Point at anything, or hold a finger on it, and a small box tells you what it is, where it comes from and what it is for.
- The first time you meet something new - swimming, a rock to mine, a station, a boat, a merchant - a short guide shows. Tap Skip to put it away. Settings, then Help, brings every guide back.
- Your quests box now always tells you what to do next, and an arrow shows the way.
- Guides use your own keys, or your phone's buttons.
- A short guide shows for the camera views (Follow behind, Locked, Over the shoulder), and every button on the map says what it does.
- Merchants, the mailbox, quest purses and the Trade Token each have a short guide too (the Trade Token's is for players 13 and up), and Settings, then Help, shows them with the Trading Post's own walk-through.
Fixed
- On phones, a guide stays on screen above an open panel instead of hiding behind it.
Townsfolk who know the dungeons and the sea
Beta
Ask anyone about the dungeons, the shipwrecks, the megalodon or the ballgames, and they know the answer and the way.
New
- Ask a townsperson about the dungeons: where the nearest portal is, what level it is for, how many friends to bring and what it drops. They put an arrow on your map to the portal.
- They also know where the shipwrecks lie and when their chests fill again, when the ballgames play, and that the megalodon can be ridden at level 50.
Characters who know the way, a sea full of life, and towns that look the part
Beta
Ask anyone where something is and they point the way with an arrow on your map; the Sunfish Isles' sea comes alive with shipwrecks and a megalodon; towns fill with people; and Lotus River, Emberfall, Thornwood and Sundown Gulch look the part.
New
- Ask a townsperson where something is - the market, a cave, the nearest Trading Post - and they tell you the way and put an arrow on your map that clears when you get there.
- The characters know the game: what a shop sells, where a quest starts, what a recipe needs and where to find it.
- Everything you can use plays its own move and does something: sitting rests you, a campfire warms you, a notice board teaches a tip, and some things turn up a small find.
- New things to do in the world: drink, wash, sing, search, water plants and feed animals.
- Settings has a new Help page: Things to do in the world.
- Lotus River's houses and shops have tiled porch roofs hung with red and gold lanterns.
- Emberfall is a town of ivory towers with tall spires, gold trim and glowing windows.
- Thornwood's homes are log cabins with porches and stone chimneys, with treehouses, campsites and little camper trailers around town.
- Sundown Gulch has tall false fronts over wooden boardwalks, horses at the hitching rails, and horses pulling every cart, stagecoach and wagon.
- The hot air balloons are real balloons now: striped, with baskets, ropes and burners.
- The heroes have their own looks, and castle-town, wizard-town and woodland folk dress for where they live.
- Every lot that's for sale has a For Sale sign: walk up and press E to see it in the store.
- The sea round the Sunfish Isles is full of life: reefs, kelp forests, fish, rays, turtles, jellyfish, dolphins, reef sharks, divers and whales.
- Seven shipwrecks lie on the bottom, each with a chest of sunken treasure to search every few hours.
- Watch out for the megalodon: it swallows swimmers and spits them out on the beach. Reach level 50 and you can ride it.
- The cargo ship out past the islands carries a themed load each crossing: search the crates on its deck from the air, or swim out to the crates it loses over the side.
- Smugglers' Cove has a jetty, a pirate ship at anchor, cannons, a treasure chest and a pirate crew.
- Farm animals live in their own fenced paddocks.
- The ballparks play two games a day, with a crowd and the score on the big screen.
- Soccer pitches in Basecamp, Thornwood, Emberfall and the plains.
- More rare, epic and legendary critters, and a beam of light shows where one is.
- Floodlights at the gyms, courts, pitches and beach clubs, and lamps along the boardwalks.
- More people in every town, and parks, markets, villages and beach clubs with people, picnics, kites, playgrounds and beach umbrellas.
Changed
- The Terms of Service explain the Builder tier subscription: the price, renewal, and how to cancel.
Fixed
- The flags at the stadium no longer float in the air.

Five dungeons, a new touch layout for phones and tablets, and caves worth exploring
Beta
Five dungeons to clear with your party, each with its own story, bosses and a legendary reward the first time; a new touch layout for phones and tablets; and the caves, mines and other material sites rebuilt.
New
- Five dungeons: walk through the portal with your party and the dungeon is yours alone. The Last Gold Mine under Sundown Gulch, The Drowned Lantern by Saltmere, The Rootbound Court in Thornwood, The Bell Beneath the Keep under Stonewatch and The Emberheart Vault in Emberfall.
- Each dungeon has its own story, its own creatures and bosses, and a quest chain whose reward is a legendary the first time you finish it, and points every time after.
- A new layout for phones and tablets: a dock with Chat, Home, Jetpack, Store, Bag and Menu, everything else as big tiles in the Menu, and panels that open as sheets. Every button is easy to tap, upright or on its side.
- Caves, mines, the grotto, the grove, the quarry, the crater and the caldera rebuilt: rock walls and roofs, stalactites, crystals and lanterns, timber supports and ore carts.
Over-the-shoulder camera, vehicles that cross zones, a new map, and a drive-in in every land
Beta
A third camera view, every vehicle crossing into the next zone with you, a new map with travel, a drive-in theater in every land, more creature camps out in the country, and smoother play.
New
- A third camera view, Over the shoulder: aim with the mouse, swap shoulders with 9, and cycle views with V. On a phone, a camera button cycles them.
- Every vehicle crosses into the next zone with you: cars, boats, jet skis, planes, dragons and the jetpack.
- A new map: place names, creature camps colored by how dangerous they are for your level, travel to places you have visited, and a legend to show or hide each kind of thing.
- A drive-in theater in every land, each with its own lineup of family-friendly videos.
- More creature camps and wild settlements out in the country, and treasure in smarter places.
Smoother
- No more freezes while the game prepares new effects, other players and cars move evenly, and your graphics card does less work every frame.
Fixes
- The crate in Saltmere's delivery quest can be picked up again.
- The camera no longer slips through cave roofs.
- A pet's treat offer shows when you point at the pet, not just when you walk past.
- Cars can drive through shallow water, and planes no longer drop you at a zone border.
Thousands of new things to find, and a big batch of fixes
Beta
Nearly 2,000 new things to find, fight, catch and furnish with, 2,000 new lines of goods at the town stalls, new guides and tips, and about 175 fixes.
New
- Nearly 2,000 new things: furniture for your home, weapons, armor, treasures, animals, critters to catch and new creatures in the wild.
- The market stalls in every town carry new lines of goods, about 2,000 of them.
- New guide lines and tips that point you to the next step.
Fixes
- About 175 fixes across the game: panels that covered buttons, quests that said too little, the camera, the map, vehicles, sounds and more.
- A town merchant could open with nothing to sell on some days. Every counter has goods now.
- The game could freeze when your car nudged a car someone had just taken from the traffic.
Behind the scenes: getting ready to sell the Builder tier
BetaBehind the scenes
Work you can't see yet: the Builder tier's subscription is built and waiting to be switched on, and our test machines check more fixes at once.
What changed
- Nothing you can see yet.
The Trading Post, merchants, and quests that pay
Beta
A Trading Post in every major town to bid, buy and sell with other players, merchants in every town who buy and sell, a purse of points on every quest, and the Trade Token.
New
- The Trading Post: a real building in every major town, with an auctioneer inside. Press E to browse every listing, bid or buy now, and sell what you have for 12, 24 or 48 hours. Every Trading Post shares one market.
- What you win or sell waits in your mailbox at any Trading Post. Outbid? Your points come back there too.
- Price history for anything, and a suggested price when you sell.
- The house lists new things every hour, from everyday goods to collectibles, curios, rare finds and now and then a gilded piece, so the market is always changing.
- Merchants in every town: a General Goods trader, a Grocer, a Toolmonger and a Junk Buyer, and every stall seller now sells their own town's goods and buys yours.
- Every quest and campaign finale now pays a purse of points to spend, on top of its usual reward. It does not change how fast you level.
- The Trade Token: buy one in the store and sell it on the Trading Post for points, or keep it as store credit. Points never turn back into money. Not for players under 13.
- Settings has Help and How to Play, and your first visit to the Trading Post walks you through it.
Fixes
- Small fixes and polish across the game.

A new trailer, and family pings that reach family
Beta
A new trailer on the home page, and a "meet me here" ping or a Home stone trip now reaches your family as well as your friends.
New
- A new trailer on the home page: Build Mode, the quest arrow, chopping, the forge, fishing, the caves, cars, boats and races.
Fixed
- A "meet me here" ping reaches your family, and the Home stone can take you to them, even when they are not on your friends list.
Parties, levels to 50, dragons, and building anywhere
Beta
Team up in parties and share quests, climb to level 50 through five new material tiers and new caves, mines and quarries, ride a dragon, and on the Builder tier build anywhere in the realm.
New
- Ride a dragon: four of them wait at Kindlecrest, take off and land like a helicopter, and breathe fire at creatures.
- The ambulance at every hospital can be driven, and the hospital's doctor or paramedic will patch you up for free.
- The toy blasters shoot foam darts and confetti.
- Parties of up to five: press U to invite friends, share quests from your quest log, and talk on Party chat with /p. Kills, finds and talks near your party count for everyone on the quest.
- Some of the campaign's big quests are better with a party, and pay a one-time bonus when you finish one together. Every one can still be done alone.
- The Home stone can take you to your party's leader.
- Levels and every skill now go up to 50, with five new tiers of materials and gear: Deepforged, Tempered, Radiant, Starborn and Heartfire.
- New places to gather the deep materials, each with its own creatures and a guide: Mossy Hollow Cave, Echo Cave, Deepdelve Mine, Ironbark Grove, the Sunken Grotto, Red Mesa Quarry, the Glowcave's Depths, the Starfall Crater dig and the Heartfire Caldera. The Deep Road quest leads you through them.
- Rare gilded finds: a gold look and a little more experience.
- On the Builder tier, Build Mode works anywhere out in the world: press Y off your lot. Roads, doors, other people's lots and the like are kept clear.
- Market stallholders have their own trades, say what they sell, and their stalls show it.
- Bigger basketballs and soccer balls, a bigger hoop, and a dotted line that shows where your shot will go.
- Every lot has a real street address instead of a code.
- While you swim, the keys to swim up and dive stay on the screen.
- A bug report can show your screen's panels and buttons in its picture.
Fixed
- Pushing a parked car is smooth now: the car you hit moves with yours instead of snapping back, any bump moves it, and a small prop hit slowly is damaged, then broken by a second bump.
- Propellers and helicopter rotors spin, and pilots lean with their aircraft.
- The tire squeal plays only while you brake or corner hard.
- A falling-star shower's beam now stands where its stars land.
- Fish-folk and crabs follow you into the water; other creatures stop at the shore and give up if you stay out of reach.
- The Home stone always takes you after its three seconds, even in a busy place.
- A helicopter parked on a roof comes down with its building instead of hanging in the air, and a knocked-over arcade machine takes its glowing screen with it.
- No more "Sit on" prompts where there is nothing to sit on.

The world draws again on Medium and Low graphics
Beta
On a computer with Graphics set to Medium or Low, opening the realm could show only the sky and the lamps. The ground, buildings, cars and people now draw at every setting.
Fixed
- On a computer with Settings -> Graphics on Medium or Low, opening the realm could show only the sky, the lamps and the name tags in a white haze. The whole world now draws at every Graphics setting.
One bag, bridges to the islands, and boats to take out
Beta
Everything you carry is in one bag you can sort and search, new bridges reach the islands, the harbor has a marina with boats, jet skis and kayaks, and the boats out at sea can be sailed.
New
- One bag for everything: what you gather now sits in the bag with the rest, in tabs for All, Gear, Materials, Consumables, Quest and Keepsakes.
- Sort the bag with one button, search it, filter it by tier, and hover anything to see what it is, where it comes from and what it's for.
- Drag things from the bag, spells from the Spellbook and emotes onto the four quick slots above the action bar. On a phone, press and hold to pick a slot.
- Weapons and armor you keep stay with you, and here they're friendly toys: a Foam Bat, a Confetti Popper, Pillow Armor and more.
- New bridges out to the islands: walk or drive across to Coconut Cay and Doubloon Island, and a wooden boardwalk runs out to Treasure Rock.
- Saltmere has a marina with motor boats, jet skis and kayaks to take out on the water. Leave one at the pier and it's tied up at once; leave it anywhere else and it finds its own way home. Far out, an arrow shows the way back.
- The sailboats, yachts and fishing boats out at sea can be sailed: swim or boat up to one and press E. The jet skis wait at their buoy between laps.

- Rapidly pressing Use on the same loot item no longer sends a duplicate pickup.
Move, copy, undo and templates in Build Mode
Beta
Build Mode can now move and copy what's on your lot, undo and redo, and save a whole layout as a template to place again.
New
- Build Mode has four tabs: Catalog, On this lot, Templates and Create.
- On this lot lists every piece on your lot, nearest first, with Move, Copy and Put away for each.
- Move picks a piece up turned the way it stands, and shows where it would go before you set it down.
- Undo and redo (Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y, or the buttons) step back and forward through what you built, and say what each would do.
- Save your lot's layout as a template, see where every piece would go, and place it all at once. Saving and placing a template are free.
- Every zone has a new place for its story: the Expedition Board in Basecamp, and a watch post or a gate out in the open country of every other zone. The campaign's big moments and its bosses now happen there, and each one is on the map.
Fixed
- The wardrobe, the talk windows, the friends list and the emote wheel now close any other big window the moment they open.

- Check the farm's scarecrow and help the farmer get the field ready.
Build Mode
Beta
Build on your lot in Build Mode: pick a piece, see where it fits before you place it, turn it and flip it.
New
- Build Mode: on your own lot, press E, right-click or tap Use to open it. The realm stays in view and you can keep walking.
- Pick pieces from a catalog in groups, or search it as you type.
- The piece in your hand shows on the ground before you place it: green where it fits, red with a cross where it doesn't, and the panel says why in words.
- R turns a piece, Shift+R flips it left for right, and E places it. The piece stays in your hand so you can place another.
- Build Mode closes on its own when you walk off your lot, get into a vehicle or sit down.
Fixed
- On a phone, the prompt shows the word on the button to press (Use, Exit or Off) instead of E.
- A big window closes the moment another one opens, so two are never on the screen together.
Logs from trees, workshops indoors, and cars you can take
Beta
Trees give logs to a hatchet, the crafting stations are inside shops, fishing has a rod and a cast, slow traffic and moored boats can be driven, the store is easier to find your way around, and town roads have sidewalks.
New
- Search the whole store at once, and filter it by what you can buy now, what you own and what isn't open to you yet.
- Anything you can't buy yet says why and what it needs, for example: Unlocks at level 5, or how many more points you need.
- Buying a lot, a building, a vehicle or anything with tokens asks you to confirm first.
- The forge, the workbenches, the alchemy table and the jeweler's bench now stand inside shops in most towns, through the shop's front door.
- Fishing looks like fishing: a rod in hand, a cast, a float on the water and a reel-in when something bites, or a hand net at the shallows.
- In a crafting window, hover a material to see where it comes from, and click it to mark the nearest place to get it on your map and minimap.
- Every zone now has a gathering or crafting quest, and the lot clerk has a First Build job: place any piece on your own lot.
- Slow or stopped traffic can be taken: walk up to a car, cart or hover, get in and drive it. It stays where you park it and rejoins the traffic after a few quiet minutes.
- The moored boats at Saltmere, the Sunfish Isles and Lotus River float on the water again and can be driven, running aground at the shore and the piers.
- Three race cars wait beside the road race's start, and a line at the top of the screen near the start says how to join.
- Every road in the realm's towns now has a raised kerb and a sidewalk on both sides, curves included, and the townsfolk walk along them.
- Things around the realm can now have up to four things to do: read a signpost, look over a market stall, play, rest, dance or cook. New ones are added all the time.
- Some beds, hay bales and sun loungers can now be lain on, with more added all the time, and everyone nearby sees you lying down.
Fixed
- Riders sit inside their car, cart, hover or aircraft, pilots lean with their aircraft, and big heads no longer poke through car roofs.
- Street lamps glow where the lamp is again.
- On the pull-up bar your hands grip the bar, the bench press presses a bar, and E on the treadmill and the exercise bike always starts your training.
- Chopping a tree in town or the countryside with a hatchet in your hand now gives birch logs and Woodcutting experience. Without a hatchet you are told you need one.
- Only one big window is open at a time: opening the bag, the map or the store closes whatever else was open, and Escape closes the store's top sheet before the store.

Quests that point the way
Beta
The quest arrow now points to the rock, tree or workbench a step needs, quests say which skill level they need, and cars are their real size.
New
- When a quest step asks you to gather or make something, the arrow points to the nearest rock, tree, patch or workbench for it.
- Quests that need a skill level say so in the tracker and the quest log, for example: needs Mining 8.
- A quest can now ask you to place a build on your lot, and counts it the moment you do.
Fixed
- Cars parked in lots are their real size again. Some had been drawn much bigger than the same car on the road.

Every town's own sellers
Beta
The people in the frontier towns now talk about their own work and sell their own wares, and the food stalls in Lotus River and Encore Heights serve their own local food.
New
- The shopkeepers in the four frontier towns now talk about what they actually sell.
- The food stalls in Lotus River and Encore Heights now sell their own local food.
- A new craft seller at the Tallgrass Plains market, with pottery, quilts and wild plum jam.
Fixed
- The people in each frontier land are that land's own people. A rancher in Tallgrass Plains no longer talks like one from Thunderfoot Valley, and the fruit sellers of Lotus River no longer sound like pirates.
Boats around the Sunfish Isles now sit in the water instead of resting on land.

A story in every zone, and skills made clear
Beta
Every zone of Majic Realm now tells its own story, and its last quest sends you on to the next zone. Every skill has its own page showing what it opens, where to train and the tools you need.
New
- All 14 zones of the Realm have their own story quests: the troubles of that zone's people, a scout, a defense and the zone's great creature. The last quest of each zone sends you on to the next.
- The quest page shows each quest's level, the level of the zone's creatures, how many zones of the journey you have finished, and where to go next.
- The frontier lands each have creatures of their own, with raids and a great creature to beat together.
- Finish the whole journey to earn the Crown of the First Mayor and the title Hero of the Realm, and Pip has a new adventure waiting after that.
- Every skill has its own page: your level and progress, what the next level opens, where to train, and the tools you need.
- Basecamp's Makers' Yard teaches mining, smithing, crafting, fishing, alchemy and jewelcrafting in short first lessons.
- Gathered materials show their tier, separate from how rare an item is, and your bag says where each one comes from.
Changed
- Quests now reward points, items and titles instead of tokens.
Fixed
- Nails and the Fence Panel can be made from the first level, so the first building lesson can be finished.
Settings in tabs, and a helper to ask
Beta
Settings now opens in five tabs with proper buttons and smooth scrolling, a helper in Settings answers questions about the game, and parents choose whether a child under 13 talks with AI characters.
New
- Settings is sorted into five tabs: General, Graphics, Sound, Controls and Help. It opens on the tab you used last.
- The keys list in Controls is grouped into moving, actions, vehicles, and chat and menus.
- Ask the helper, in Settings: type a question about the game and get an answer from How to Play.
For families
- Parents now choose separately whether a child under 13 can talk with the game's AI characters. It is off until a parent turns it on, on the consent page or the Family page.
- Without that yes, characters still greet and answer a child with their own ready-made lines, and nothing a child says is sent to an AI.
Fixed
- Every button in Settings now looks like a button.
- The mouse wheel and your finger scroll Settings smoothly, and it no longer jumps back to the top when you change something.
- The Voices volume and mute work right away.
- On a phone, Settings opens as a sheet with bigger buttons, and the item bar no longer covers it. On a computer it no longer covers the action bar.
Long replies read from the top
Beta
A long answer in the chat window now shows from its first words, and sign-in is better protected against guessing.
Fixed
- When a character gives a long answer in the chat window, it now shows from the start instead of only its last lines.
- Too many wrong passwords from one place now pause sign-in for 15 minutes, which keeps accounts safer.
- Making many accounts from one place in a short time is now paused for an hour.
The map zoom buttons now stay visible and clickable while panels are open.
Beta
The map zoom buttons now stay visible and clickable while panels are open.
Fixes
- The map zoom buttons now stay visible and clickable while panels are open.
Talk to anyone in one press
Beta
Press E next to someone and the chat opens right away. Chat is safer for families, monsters fight back properly, and older phones and tablets can play.
New
- Press E next to someone and the chat window opens right away. Their shop, their job, who they are and a high five are small buttons along its top.
- When someone has a quest for you, E still opens their menu first, so the quest is easy to find.
- Reports you file about another player now reach the team for review.
- The Play button signs you in first, then takes you straight to the game launcher.
Fixed
- Chat in Majic Realm no longer lets anyone share email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses, links or social handles.
- What the characters say near players under 13 passes the same safety list as those players' own chat.
- Monsters keep closing in while they wind up an attack, so standing in reach gets you hit. Step clear in time and they miss.
- Older iPhones and iPads (before iOS 16.4) can now play on the lowest graphics setting instead of seeing a blocker page.
- A game tab opened before an update keeps loading after the update.
Tokens you buy can build
Beta
Tokens you buy with money can now pay for something new to be built, a refund takes back only what was refunded, and your balance is yours alone to see.
Fixed
- Tokens you buy can now pay for a new build request. Before, the request said you had no bought tokens even after a purchase.
- A partial refund takes back only the part of the pack that was refunded, and a second partial refund is counted too.
- The Supporters board counts only tokens bought with real money, and shows character names only.
- Your token balance is private: only you can see it.
A clear field at Sunfield Park
Beta
Sunfield Park's field stays clear: no animals, stones, logs or loot wander onto the grass or into the stands.
Fixed
- Sunfield Park's field and stands stay clear: the prairie's animals, stones, logs and loot keep to the country round it.
Behind the scenes
Beta
A small fix behind the scenes to how the newest places are built.
Fixed
- Behind the scenes: a large place can now take the space it needs when it is rebuilt.
Sunfield Park opens
Beta
A full ballpark in the south-east of Tallgrass Plains: a mowed field with its diamond, two decks of seats under a canopy, a big video board, bleachers and a plaza facing the town.
New
- Sunfield Park, a ballpark in Tallgrass Plains: walk onto the field through the gates in the outfield corners, or fly in with your jetpack and look around from the upper deck.
- The field has its diamond, mound, bases and chalk lines, a warning track and the outfield wall, with bleachers and the big board beyond it.
The same keys everywhere
Beta
F is the jetpack in every world now, and attacking is 1 or a click everywhere. Also carries the tidier store tabs.
Changed
- The jetpack is on F wherever you play, and 1 or a click attacks - one set of keys to learn. Settings lists them.
Fixed
- Store tabs spread evenly across their rows on phones, and the Gear tab (boards and helmets) no longer has its name cut off.
Tidier store tabs
Beta
The store tabs line up evenly on every screen, and the boards and helmets tab is now simply Gear so its name fits.
Fixed
- Store tabs spread evenly across their rows on phones, and the Gear tab (boards and helmets) no longer has its name cut off.
The action bar and chat look right again
Beta
Fixes the screen layout: the action bar, chat and bag were showing as plain text in both worlds after the last update. Escape also closes the Quests and Skills panels now.
Fixed
- The action bar, chat box and bag are back in their places - after the last update they showed as plain text down the side of the screen.
- Escape closes the Quests and Skills panels, like every other panel.
The Settings button now stays put when the card book is open
Beta
The Settings button no longer disappears behind the card collection book on small screens it stays visible and clickable.
Fixes
- The Settings button no longer disappears behind the card collection book on small screens it stays visible and clickable.
New lands: dinosaurs, dragons, pirate isles and the frontier
Beta
Seven new lands join the map: ride dinosaurs in Thunderfoot Valley, meet dragons in Kindlecrest, sail to the pirate islands of the Sunfish Isles, and saddle up for Sundown Gulch, Tallgrass Plains, Lotus River and Encore Heights.
Thunderfoot Valley
- Fossil Flats is a frontier town around the Gentle Giant, a stone dinosaur as tall as a house. Ride a treetopper, trihorn or beakrunner from Stompers' Ranch - free, and they walk home when you get off.
- Visit the museum, The Big Dig and Egg Hill Nursery, tame a stompling hatchling, and face Big Tiny at Thunder Rock. Take the Crest Road north out of Thornwood.
Kindlecrest
- Scalebridge is a mountain town under the Dragon Spire, with a stone dragon asleep on top. Explore the Hatchery, the Glow Cave and the Roost, tame a puffwing hatchling, and climb to Grandmother Glowscale on Old Wing's Summit.
The Sunfish Isles
- Three islands out at sea: Doubloon Wharf, the pirates' market town; Coconut Cay's beach huts; and Treasure Rock, where Captain Blusterbeard guards his buttons.
- The cargo ship now calls at Doubloon Island - walk off its gangway onto the island. Get around by boat, on foot or by air.
Sundown Gulch
- A frontier town with a root-beer saloon, a sheriff, a rodeo and gold panning in the creek - and a wooden stop sign at the crossroads.
Tallgrass Plains
- Two living communities share the prairie, with a community hall, a trading post, a ranch, a school, the county fair and a bison range.
Lotus River
- A floating market, a pho shop, a lantern workshop and a rice farm, home of Muffin the water buffalo.
Encore Heights
- An original K-pop town with a dance studio, a stage, a fan shop and singing rooms.
Horses
- Saddle up at the livery and the ranch - horses to ride across the new lands.
Lots
- More than 110 new lots for sale across the seven lands, from cabins to a big-box store.
Behind the scenes: safer deploys and a busier art studio
Beta
Behind-the-scenes work: our AI art studio wastes fewer pictures, and every update is now built in a locked-down space before it goes out.
Behind the scenes
- Our AI art studio gives up sooner on pictures that aren't working, so more of its time goes into new looks for the world.
- Every update is now built in a separate, locked-down space before it goes live.
Lots from a shack to a mall
Beta
Lots now come in ten sizes, from a tiny shack or cabin up to a big-box store or a whole mall, ready for the new lands.
Lots
- Homes come as a shack, cabin, cottage, house, villa or estate, and shops as a shop, store, big-box or mall, each with its own plot size, height and price.
- Every lot and home you already own stays exactly as it is.
Skateboards, a rare hoverboard, themed cargo voyages and the Keep Circle Sprint
Beta
Ride a skateboard anywhere, hunt for the rare hoverboard, race the Keep Circle Sprint, take the free launch out to the carrier, and see what the cargo ship brings home each voyage.
Boards and helmets
- Skateboards are sold in the store. They stay in your pouch - hop on anywhere outdoors (K, the Board button, or Ride in your bag) and go faster than walking.
- The hoverboard is a rare find: it only turns up in cargo, chests and digs. It skims over shallow water.
- Helmet designs are for sale, and you wear yours whenever you ride.
At sea
- The cargo ship comes home from the islands with a new hold each voyage - toys, supplies, market food, scouting surplus, cars or treasure - dressed to match, and the harbor announces it. Searching it gives gathering materials, now and then a map scrap, and very rarely a hoverboard.
- A free launch runs from the quay out to the aircraft carrier and back.
The Keep Circle Sprint
- A road race in Stonewatch: stop in the painted box at the start, wait for red-red-red-green, then race once around Keep Circle and down the East Lane's bends to the finish.
- Cars, motorcycles and boards each race in their own class. Points for finishing, winning your class and beating your best, and the best five times go up on the board by the start.
Home stone
- The Home stone works from a stopped car, motorcycle or landed aircraft: you arrive on foot and your vehicle heads home by itself.
A tidier screen: whole sentences, a smaller tour card and a night brightness setting
Beta
Fixes and polish from our AI test players' notes: people finish their sentences, Enter always opens chat, Pip's tour card is smaller, panels stop overlapping, the bag shows item names, stores get a search box, and nights can be brighter.
Talking
- Townspeople no longer stop mid-word, and their speech bubbles show whole sentences without piling up.
- Enter always opens chat, even after you've clicked on the world.
Pip's tour
- The tour card is smaller, says which step you're on (like "Step 4 of 8"), folds away and stays folded. An arrow and a star on the map point the way.
- Quests that ask you to talk to people point at the nearest one you haven't greeted, with a ? over their head.
The screen
- The minimap, music card, chat, Credits link, event banners and name labels each keep their own space on computers and phones.
- The bag shows item names, store tabs are tidy and long store lists have a search box.
- Settings > Graphics has a Night brightness choice: Normal, Brighter or Brightest.
- The Home stone asks you to get out of the car first.
Room to grow: the world is ready for new lands
Beta
Behind the scenes, the world can now grow past its old edges, so the new lands can join the map without moving anything that's already here.
Growing the world
- The map can now grow outward in every direction. The new lands (dinosaurs, dragons, pirate islands, frontier towns and more) will join it without moving anything that's already here.
Curved roads, roundabouts and trails
Beta
Country roads bend between towns, six roundabouts join the zones, and 13 trails and paths lead to the lakes, the Watch Stones, the picnic ground and the Smugglers' Cove.
Roads
- The country roads between towns now sweep in long, gentle curves, and the lanes to the Coast Road curve into it.
- Six roundabouts, one where each pair of zones' roads meet, each with a planted island. Traffic slows for bends, goes around counterclockwise and gives way to cars already on the ring - and you can go all the way around to turn back.
Trails and paths
- 13 trails and paths reach every fishing lake, the Watch Stones, the picnic ground and the Smugglers' Cove, including a wooden boardwalk along Saltmere's shore, a stone walk around Copper Pond and a forest trail through Thornwood.
- Townspeople like to walk on the paths, and your footsteps sound like wood or stone on them. Both maps show everything.
Boats and bikes
- The harbor's boats and the motorcycles now use detailed models too (the speedboat keeps its old look for now). New and better models keep arriving by themselves as we find them.
New names, just this once
- To make room for the new roads, about 50 shops got a new name and look inside, and many townspeople have new names. From now on, names stay put as the world grows. Your own lot, home and things are exactly where you left them.
No more being pulled back when you walk into a zone
Beta
Walking into a zone a few minutes after you'd left it on another device or tab could put you back where you were before. Fixed in both worlds.
Fixed
- If an earlier session ended without saying goodbye, walking into that zone again could move you back to where that session left off. You now arrive where you walked in, and reconnecting still brings you back exactly where you were.
Motorcycles, a cargo ship, an aircraft carrier and real aircraft
Beta
Ride motorcycles, climb aboard the cargo ship, land a jet on the aircraft carrier, and see new real models for aircraft, cars, rocks, trees and crafting stations.
Motorcycles
- Four bikes at the store: scooter (3,000 points or 35 tokens), dirt bike (7,000 or 70), cruiser (8,000 or 80) and sport bike (12,000 or 100).
- They lean into turns, pull wheelies and small hops, and a helmet in your bike's color goes on by itself. A hard crash tips you off (press E to get back on), and your pet can ride along.
- You'll see motorcycles in traffic too.
At sea
- A cargo ship sails a loop from the harbor quay, past the carrier, to an island and back. When it's docked, walk up the gangway, climb the containers and search the cargo.
- The aircraft carrier has a walkable flight deck (a safe zone), a jet that launches off the deck and catches the wires when it lands, and a helicopter pad.
New models
- Helicopters, planes and jets are now detailed models with turning rotors and propellers, painted in their colors or your paint shop's.
- On computers, some parked and passing cars, plus the rocks, trees, herb patches and crafting stations, use new detailed models. Every model's maker is on the credits page.
Meet-me pings reach friends anywhere
Beta
A meet-me ping now reaches your friends and family wherever they are, with a card to teleport straight to you.
Friends
- Press T (or type /meet) and friends who added you back, plus your family, see it wherever they are: a pink ! at the edge of their map with your zone's name, and a card saying where you want to meet, with Teleport and Not now.
- Family can teleport to each other with the Home stone, even if you haven't added each other as friends.
- Pings keep their limits, a child without chat permission can ping family only, and blocking still stops pings both ways.
The ground is back in the rain, and cars, shields and talking fixed
Beta
Fixes from your reports: the ground no longer vanishes in rain or at night, E gets you into a car, the bubble shield ends on time, every townsperson answers when you talk, guards stay off the road, and the screen's panels no longer overlap.
Fixed
- On the top graphics setting, the ground, roads and some buildings could vanish (you'd see gray sky in the rain or dark blue at night). They're back, and a building that was invisible but solid shows again.
- Pressing E next to a car gets you in, even with a lamp, bench or person right beside it.
- The bubble shield comes down when its time is up, for you and everyone watching.
- "Talk to..." always opens the chat; after an update some townspeople had a frozen double nobody could talk to.
- Guards and townspeople walk on the sidewalk and step out of a crossing when a car comes.
- Street lamps stand upright with the light under the lamp.
- The Windows app no longer gets stuck drawing people as simple shapes.
- The quest tracker, minimap buttons and the drive-in's banner no longer cover other parts of the screen, on computers and phones.
Friends on your map, meet-me pings and night lights
Beta
Friends show on your minimap as hearts, press T to show friends and family where to meet, mute or block anyone from their name in chat, and country roads light up at night with fireflies over the grass.
Friends
- Friends who added you back show on your minimap as green hearts. Point at one (or tap it) to see who it is; a friend in another zone waits at the map's edge with the zone's name.
- Press T, tap the pin in the Friends panel or type /meet to show friends and family in your zone where to meet you: a pink ! on their map and an arrow at the top of their screen.
Chat
- Click or tap a name in the chat to Mute, Block or Add friend. /mute and /block work too, and it's saved on your account.
- Mute hides someone from you. Block works both ways: no chat, friend requests, trades, high-fives or pings.
The game
- When there's a new version, a card offers to refresh. If the connection drops, you'll see "Reconnecting..." and then "Back!".
- Country-road lamps light up at dusk, and fireflies drift over the grass and water at night.
- Swimmers float with their head and shoulders out of the water.
Watch the trailer
Beta
The Majic Realm trailer is on the home page: one minute in the realm, from the town and its characters to snow at night.
Home page
- The trailer plays right under the top of the home page. It only downloads when you press play, so the page stays quick on phones.
Players first on the AI, and a safer parents' page
Beta
Characters and bots answer you first: our AI machines now hand the next free slot to a player within about a second. Some parents' settings now ask you to sign in.
Faster answers
- When you talk to a character or a bot, you get the next free AI slot within about a second, ahead of any background work.
- The bots that keep the world busy step aside the moment a player is waiting.
Parents
- Some settings on the parents' page now need you to sign in first.
Gathering and making: eight new skills
Beta
Mine ore, chop wood and fish, then smith, craft, cut gems, brew potions and build: eight new skills with tools, workstations, potions and new pieces for your lot.
Gathering
- Walk up to a rock, tree, fishing spot or herb patch and press E (or Use on a phone): a ring fills, you swing, and the goods land in your pouch.
- Rocks, trees and spots run out and grow back, and everyone nearby sees it.
- Better tools in five tiers make you faster; the first rocks, trees and shallows can be done by hand.
Making
- Forges, crafting benches, jeweler's benches, alchemy tables and builder's benches in every town: pick a recipe, choose how many, and watch it get made.
- Make tools, weapons and shields, rings and amulets, pet treats, and potions for speed, bigger jumps, slow falls, glow, warmth and healing.
- Construction unlocks fancier building pieces for your lot.
- Sell what you make at the stations, up to a daily limit.
Skills and quests
- All eight skills are in the Skills panel (L) under Gathering and Making, with levels 1 to 20.
- New quests and daily quests use the skills.
Busier towns, a tidier top menu, and easier to find on Google
Beta
More people wander every town, friendly test bots are around at all hours, the top menu fits any window, and search engines and share links now show Majic Realm properly.
Busier towns
- More wanderers in every town: three in Basecamp and two everywhere else.
- Friendly test bots (tagged <Test bot>) now play at any time of day, not just late at night, one or two per world.
The website
- The top menu fits any window size: signed in, the links fold into the menu sooner, and a big token balance shows as 999.9K (hover for the exact count).
- Sharing a link to the site shows a proper picture card, and search engines get the right titles and descriptions for every page.
The townsfolk are real people now, and they talk
Beta
The people walking around town look as good as the main characters, and they greet you, chat with each other and react to what's happening around them.
A living crowd
- The people in the streets are real, animated characters: they walk, stand and chat in pairs, sit on benches and around campfires, wave and turn to look at you.
- They say hi as you pass, react when a car crashes, rain starts, your pet trots by or you fly over on a jetpack, and you can overhear them talking.
- Speech bubbles only pop up close to you and never pile up.
- New lines arrive all the time: thousands already, and many more to come.
- Older tablets keep the lighter version so the game stays smooth.
A real ocean, and pets that swim with you
Beta
The sea, lakes and river look like real water now, with waves, foam and sparkle, and your dog, horse or fox follows you in for a swim.
The water
- Turquoise shallows and deep blue sea, gentle waves rolling onto the beach, foam and wet sand at the water's edge.
- Sunlight sparkles on the water and ripples across the sandy bottom in the shallows; the river flows downstream.
- Boats, jet skis, swimmers and pets leave a foamy wake, and anyone jumping in makes a splash.
- Phones and older tablets get a lighter version that still looks like water.
Pets that swim
- Dogs, horses, foxes and mosslings follow you into the water, paddle along with their heads up, and dive down with you.
- They climb out with a hop and a shake.
- Cats, rabbits, chickens and the robot pup would rather not: they wait for you on the sand.
Quests: stories, daily quests and titles to wear
Beta
Look for the gold ! over people's heads: they have quests for you. Follow stories through every town, do three daily quests, and earn rewards and titles to wear under your name.
Quests
- A gold ! means someone has a quest for you: talk to them to read the story, see the reward and accept. A ? means your quest wants you to talk to them.
- A tracker under the minimap shows your next step, and Show points the arrow right at it.
- Open your quest log with U (or the Quests button on phones): active quests, today's dailies, finished ones and your titles.
- More than 40 quests across all seven towns, from testing the park lamps to restarting the observatory, plus a first-steps chain right after Pip's tour and a Grand Tour of every town.
- Three daily quests every day, the same for everyone.
- Rewards include points, items, critters, a few tokens and titles you can show under your name.
Friendly test bots help us find bugs
Beta
Late at night you might meet a player tagged <Test bot>: our AI playtesters walk the world, try everything and report what's broken so we can fix it fast.
Test bots
- Test bots are clearly tagged <Test bot> on their name and in chat, and they play mostly in the quiet hours of the night.
- They may say hi or ask what you're up to, but they never whisper, send friend requests, trade, fight you or buy anything.
- They never show up on leaderboards, in player counts or in event results, and you can mute them like any player.
- What they find goes straight to our bug fixer.
Benches, lamps and fountains on the streets, and new windows
Beta
The AI art studio's street furniture (benches, lamps, planters, fountains and statues) now finds its way onto the streets and plazas, and into your build list, and buildings get their own windows and trim.
Towns
- New benches, street lamps and planters line the streets, and fountains and statues grace the plazas, as the art studio makes them.
- The same pieces are free in your build list, so you can dress up your own lot.
- Buildings get windows and trim of their own, painted by the art studio.
- Art made for one part of the world is now shared everywhere it fits.
Vote for the next video, and see who's chatting with whom
Beta
At the drive-in you can now ask for the next video and the whole lot votes, and when someone chats with a character, everyone nearby sees the conversation in speech bubbles.
The drive-in
- Press Request next and everyone in the lot gets 30 seconds to approve or turn it down. More approvals, and everyone skips to the next video together.
- One request per player every few minutes, and no requests right at the end of a video.
Chatting with characters
- When someone chats with a character, people nearby now see both sides as speech bubbles, just like regular chat.
- Long answers show the first line or two in the bubble; the person chatting still gets the whole thing in their window.
The world remembers
- Lamps, windows, shutters, doors and lids stay the way players left them, even after everyone has left the area.
Real conversations with the characters, and a world you can use
Beta
Chat with any character like you'd chat with a friend: they answer word by word, stay in character and remember you next time. And you can now switch on lamps, close windows, carry and throw things, and sit almost anywhere.
Talk to anyone
- Pick Chat and a conversation window opens: type anything, and the character answers a few words at a time, just like a real chat.
- Characters stay themselves: their job, their town, the weather and the latest news. Ask for a story and you'll get a longer one.
- They remember you: talk to someone again and they'll recall what you chatted about.
- Kids' chats stay kid-safe, and players under 13 can chat with characters only if a parent has turned chat on.
Use the world
- Press E (or tap) near something to use it: turn lamps and street lights on and off, and switch fountains, taps, radios, TVs and wind chimes.
- Close any house or shop window with its shutters, lift chest lids, and open sliding and garage doors.
- Pick up a crate, barrel, bin or sign, carry it, and throw it. It finds its way back home a couple of minutes later. A hit only goes "Bonk!"
- Sit on benches, logs, boulders, hay bales, beds and chairs.
- Everyone nearby sees what you did, and so does anyone who arrives later.
The Jacks-In Theater shows YouTube, and everyone watches together
Beta
The drive-in theater now plays favorite YouTube videos, like MrBeast, Caylus, KPop Demon Hunters songs, Bluey and Sesame Street, and everyone in the lot watches the same moment together.
The drive-in
- The big screen plays a line-up of videos from the creators' own channels: MrBeast, Caylus, KPop Demon Hunters songs from Netflix, Bluey and Sesame Street.
- Everyone at the drive-in sees the same video at the same moment, and if you arrive late you join right where it is.
- Park in a stall or stand in the stalls and the video opens by itself; drive away and it closes. The sound follows your Sound setting.
- Players under 13 see only the shows made for kids.
- Between videos, a short break shows what's next with a countdown, and the speakers play some jazz.
Our AI art studio turns to the towns: buildings, streets and landmarks
Beta
The AI art studio now spends much of its day on the world itself: more detailed walls and roofs, roads and plazas, shop fronts, signs and murals, and it works about twice as fast.
The world
- New looks for buildings: walls and roofs with more real detail, district by district.
- Streets get new road, pavement and plaza surfaces.
- Landmarks get original shop fronts, signs and murals.
- The studio makes new art about twice as fast as before, and never makes the same thing twice.
The world sounds alive: creatures, nature and footsteps
Beta
Our sound studio now makes the world's sounds: animals, wind and water, doors and lamps, and footsteps that change with the ground under you.
Sounds
- Creatures sound like themselves: critters, wildlife, pets and companions.
- Nature all around you: wind, rain, thunder, the ocean, rivers, birds, insects and crackling fires.
- Doors creak, lamps click, and footsteps sound different on grass, stone, wood, sand, metal and water.
- Characters' voices get new greetings and reactions.
- New sounds arrive every day, checked before they're added, like our art studio's looks.
A new name: Majic Realm
Beta
Our game has a new name: Majic Realm. Same world, same characters, same account: nothing to do on your end.
New name
- Majic Realm is the new name for the world you already know. Your character, lots, pets, tokens and friends are all still here.
- You'll see the new name on the site, in the game, in the characters' conversations and in our emails.
Characters talk out loud, and new sounds every day
Beta
The realm's characters now speak their lines in their own voices, and our new sound studio adds fresh sound effects and ambient sounds to the world every day.
Voices
- Characters speak their lines out loud, each with a voice that fits them: warm, bright, gruff, quick, hearty, or a royal herald.
- Turn Voices on or off, and set the volume, in Settings. Phones start muted, to save data.
Sounds
- A new sound studio makes original sound effects and ambient sounds, checks them, and adds them to the world, like our art studio does with looks.
- Sounds only start after your first tap or click, so the game never blares when a page opens.
Smoother on older iPads and phones
Beta
The game runs much lighter on older iPads and small phones, with a new Low-power mode and a loading screen that shows real progress.
Speed
- Older iPads and small iPhones start in a new Low-power mode: a softer picture and a shorter view, for a much smoother game. Turn it off in Settings any time.
- On phones and tablets, the game lowers its resolution by itself when frames get slow, and raises it again when they recover.
- The sky is drawn only where you can see it, which frees up a lot of work on every device.
- If a device can't keep up even on the lowest settings, it gets Low-power mode on its next visit, with a message saying so.
Loading
- After you sign in, a loading screen shows real progress and a tip while the world downloads.
Your own picture as your avatar
Beta
Upload a picture on your profile page and it becomes your avatar on the site and in the game, after a quick check. Or pick one of the drawn avatars.
Profile pictures
- Upload a picture from your profile page, crop it to a square, and send it. It shows once it's been checked, usually within a minute or two.
- Your avatar shows at the top of the site, in your frame in the game, and in your friends' lists.
- Pictures with nudity, violence, hate, or personal details like an address or phone number are turned down, and your old avatar stays.
- Location data and other hidden details are removed from every picture.
- Don't want a photo? Pick one of the drawn avatars instead.
For families
- A child under 13 can upload only after their parent turns uploads on from the Family page, and their picture is seen by their family only.
Kids under 13 can join with a parent's OK, and a new section for parents
Beta
Children under 13 can now sign up with a parent's consent, and grown-ups get a new For Parents section at the bottom of every page.
Under 13 with a parent
- When a child under 13 signs up, we ask for a parent's email, not the child's, and send the parent a notice explaining what we collect and why.
- The parent confirms from their own account, with a 50-cent credit or debit card check that's refunded right away, or by signing and uploading a consent form.
- Until a parent says yes, the child can't play, chat or upload. With no answer in 14 days, everything collected is deleted.
- Parents can review, change or delete their child's information, choose whether chat and uploads are on, or withdraw consent, all from the Family page.
- The Privacy Policy has a new section for children.
For parents
- A new For Parents link at the bottom of every page, with the family tools and the grown-up options in one place.
Spelling
- The game and the site now use American spelling everywhere: Harbor, Gray, Traveler and friends.
Smoother driving, real crashes, and a lot of new controls
Beta
Cars slide and crash for real, vehicles are tougher, planes fly properly, the game feels smoother, and you get a map, a shield, a heal, visible shots with aim help, and much more.
Driving and flying
- Bump a parked car and it slides and turns. Crash into other drivers and traffic: you both bounce, and damage depends on speed.
- Every vehicle is tougher: small bumps cost nothing, and a full-speed hit dents a car instead of wrecking it.
- Planes and jets lift off by themselves at speed, fly through small scenery, and land gently.
- Your pet now sits inside every kind of car, not out the window.
Smoother play
- Big position fixes now ease in instead of snapping, other players no longer freeze when a message is late, and jumps and stairs no longer pop.
Combat and controls
- Shots fly where you can see them: arrows arc and wand bolts streak. Aim help (Off, Light or Strong) is in Settings, Strong on touch screens.
- Bows and wands now reach creatures at their full range.
- New abilities: a bubble shield (Z) that blocks all damage for 4 seconds, and a heal (X) that restores health over 6 seconds.
- A Map button by the minimap, or the M key, opens the whole world with drag, zoom and pinch.
- Click a world event's banner or its mark on the map for an arrow that guides you there.
- In your friends list, Go is now Teleport.
Everything else
- No more wrecking limit. Each object still pays only once every two minutes.
- Townsfolk and bots stop and face you while you talk, and the talk box closes when you walk away, click outside it, or pick an answer.
- Pet names show when you point at or tap the pet.
- On phones, the Home stone has its own Home button again.
- Swimming: Space rises and C dives, with Up and Dive buttons on touch screens.
- Bug reports go straight to our fixer.
Skills, magic, and build anything you can imagine
Beta
A new Skills panel tracks everything you get better at, the Ability button now casts eight spells, and Create something new is open: order an object and the art studio builds it on your lot.
Skills
- Press L, use the Settings row, or tap the star by the map on a phone to open your Skills.
- Combat, Magic, Wrecking, Strength, Stamina, Building, Pet Care and Critter Finding each have a level up to 20, a progress bar and what the next level brings.
- Each new level pays points.
Magic
- The Ability button (4) casts spells, and Q picks the next one: Sparkle Shot, Hush Charm, Zigzag Zap, Skip Step, Star Bloom, Ember Lance, Comet Drop and Storm Garland.
- Spells use energy that refills, and new ones unlock as your Magic level grows.
- Spells work on creatures and on things you can wreck. They never hurt other players.
Create something new
- On a lot you can build on, open the build menu and choose Create something new: name it, pick what sort, and see the price in tokens.
- The art studio builds it and checks it, then it appears on your lot for everyone to see.
- If it can't be made, you get every token back automatically.
Behind the scenes: a quicker start
BetaBehind the scenes
The realm downloads a little less before you can play, because a few tools you rarely open now load only when you need them. Nothing looks or plays differently.
What changed
- A smaller first download, so the realm starts a touch faster on slow connections.
Towns with a daily life, and more places to play ball
Beta
Townsfolk now live by the clock and notice you. Four more towns have a court or pitch, and a townsfolk will play against you when you start a match alone. Plus tidier buttons on phones.
A day in town
- Townsfolk follow the sun: stallholders open up at dawn, and everyone heads home when night falls.
- They notice you when you pass, remember how you treated them, and greet you accordingly.
- When you beat a monster, people nearby cheer.
More places to play
- New courts and pitches: Harbor Sands Pitch in Saltmere, Treeline Court in Thornwood, Glowstone Court in Emberfall and Cinder Pitch in Ashfall.
- Start a quick match alone and a townsfolk or bot nearby comes over to take the other side. They play fair and sometimes miss.
Phones and tablets
- The Realm Daily's newspaper button no longer pushes the map's buttons into the tour card or the action buttons.
- Held sideways, a zone banner no longer overlaps the message line.
What's New
- This page now shows the latest 20 updates, with a link to see every one.
New people and new outfits
Beta
The townsfolk, bots and players have new, better-looking bodies with more variety, and three new outfits are in the store: the Princess, the Nurse and Emerald Aegis.
New people
- Everyone in the realm has a new body: more skin tones, hairstyles, faces, heights and builds, dressed for their job.
- Crowds look fuller and still run smoothly, and phones get lighter versions.
New outfits
- The Princess, with a gown and tiara, for 4,000 points or 40 tokens.
- The Nurse, in scrubs, for 2,500 points or 25 tokens.
- Emerald Aegis, a green armored flying suit, for 8,000 points or 80 tokens.
- Change outfits any time in your wardrobe.
The Realm Daily, inside the game and full every day
Beta
The Realm Daily now opens right in the game, and it's filled every day with things to wonder about: the sky, the seasons, the ocean, water, and pictures from space and museums.
In the game
- Open it from the notice board, when you talk to a herald, royal, greeter or townsfolk, from Settings, with the newspaper button on a phone, or with the N key.
- It shows today's topics, what the townsfolk think about each, and a tab for each past day.
- Nothing opens a new tab any more.
Filled every day
- New sources: the night sky and the seasons, ocean facts from NOAA, water science from the USGS, NASA's images, the Smithsonian's open collection, and a daily animal or science fact.
- Each day aims for 8 to 12 topics, written for young readers and checked before they appear.
Behind the scenes
- Our test bots now play the game like real players to find problems before you do.
High fives, new dances and three heroes
Beta
High five, wave, cheer, scare or dance with anyone nearby. Ten new dances to unlock, townsfolk who join in when you chat, and three heroes who patrol every town.
With someone
- Open the emote wheel and pick High five, Wave, Cheer, Scare or Dance with. Another player gets a Yes or No thanks first.
- When you talk to someone in town, you can offer a high five. The first high five with each person each day earns 15 points.
- Scare a townsfolk and they jump, and some run off. Guards and royals don't scare easily.
- Townsfolk and bots now answer things said near them, not only when you talk to them.
Ten new dances
- A second page on the emote wheel, including the Heel-Toe Hustle.
- Three unlock at levels 2 and 3, three more for points or at levels 4 to 6, and four for tokens or a big pile of points. There's an Emotes page in the store too.
Heroes
- Grapplejack, Voltwing and Mighty Marigold fly a timetable through all seven towns.
- They catch players who fall, lift out anyone who's stuck, and chase creatures back to their camps.
- High five a hero or pose for a photo you can save.
Basketball and soccer
Beta
Shoot hoops at Lamppost Court in Basecamp and kick a ball around Hollow Green Pitch in Greenhollow, alone or with anyone who joins.
Play ball
- Walk into the ball to pick up the basketball or dribble the soccer ball. Attack shoots, with the 1 key, a left click or the touch button.
- Everyone nearby sees the same ball, so you can play together.
- Start a quick match from the scoreboard: first to a score, or against the clock.
- Each court remembers its best streak.
Rewards
- Scoring earns a few points, up to 100 a day.
- When a court is empty, townsfolk and bots sometimes come over for a game, and they pass you the ball when you join.
Family: link your kids and play together
Beta
A new Family page links a parent's account with their kids' accounts, so you can find each other in the realm, jump in beside them, and always land in the same copy of a zone.
Link your kids
- Your kid opens their Family page and shows you a code. You type it on your own Family page, and your accounts are linked. No passwords are shared.
- A linked parent can put a kid's account on the family lock, which keeps it to family content. Only a parent or an admin can take it off.
Play together
- See when your linked kids are in the realm and where, and press Join to land right beside them.
- Linked family always lands in the same copy of a zone, even when it's busy, without having to be friends first.
Attack on the run, and send your vehicles home
Beta
Your swing now shows while you run, holding Attack keeps attacking, and one button brings every vehicle you own back to its lot.
Attacking
- Attack while you walk or run: your arms swing while your legs keep going, on a computer and with the joystick held on a phone or tablet.
- Hold Attack to keep attacking.
Send my vehicles home
- A new button in Settings, under Unstuck, and in the paint shop.
- It brings every vehicle you own back to its lot or garage, from any zone.
- It waits if someone is driving one, and you can use it every 30 seconds.
Behind the scenes: work on areas that aren't open yet
BetaBehind the scenes
New buildings, cars and night lights for a part of the game that isn't open yet. Nothing in the realm looks or plays differently.
What changed
- Groundwork for a part of the game that opens later. The realm is exactly as it was.
Report a bug from inside the game
Beta
Found something broken? Press F2, or Report a bug in Settings, and the game sends us a picture of what you see along with where you were.
Report a bug
- Open it from Settings, press F2, or tap the bug button by the map on a phone or tablet.
- It takes a picture of the game and asks what happened. Writing something is optional.
- It never asks for anything personal, and any email address or phone number you type is removed.
- You can send up to 5 reports a day.
The bots help too
- The realm's bots now watch for problems as they wander, like getting stuck or falling through the ground, and report them for us.
Cars
- Your own car, left beside you in another zone when you log off, now waits there for 24 hours.
Come back right where you left
Beta
The world now remembers where you were. Log off, reconnect or come back tomorrow and you're in the same zone at the same spot, with everything others built while you were away.
Your spot
- When you leave, the game saves your zone and spot. Coming back puts you right there.
- If your spot is now blocked, underwater or inside someone's locked building, you land on open ground nearby.
- Game updates no longer send everyone back to Basecamp.
The world goes on
- Builds, plots, parked cars, pets, weather and bosses carry on while you're away.
- Your own car, left beside you in another zone when you log off, waits there for up to 3 days.
- After 20 minutes away, a While you were away note lists new builds near your lot and bosses that were beaten.
Play with friends
- When a zone gets busy the game makes more copies of it. You now land in a friend's copy, or the one you left, before any other.
A brand-new website
Beta
The whole site is new: bright pages with real pictures from the game, a short menu, and a full How to Play guide with a section for parents.
The new site
- A simple menu: Build with AI, AI Characters, The World, How to Play and What's New, plus a big Play free button.
- Build with AI shows the art studio that designs new looks, paint jobs, animals and effects for the game every day.
- AI Characters introduces the townsfolk, with their jobs, moods and jokes, the Realm Daily, and the bots, who always wear a tag.
- The World tours every zone with pictures taken in the game.
How to Play
- Getting started, keyboard and touch controls, Pip's tour, building, asking the AI, pets and critters, loot, gyms, the Home stone, friends, points and tokens, and getting unstuck.
- A Parents and safety section, linked from the bottom of every page.
In the game
- The travel button, its tips and messages all say Home stone now.
The Coralhaven Ferry, a busy sea and a beach club
Beta
Ride the ferry from Saltmere's Long Pier out to the Beacon and dive down to Coralhaven. The sea is full of boats, surfers and jet skis, and there's a new beach club by the lighthouse.
The Coralhaven Ferry
- The ferry stops at the end of Saltmere's Long Pier every two minutes. Press E on the pier to board and enjoy the ride.
- At the Beacon, press E to dive straight down to Coralhaven and the Tidefolk.
- To go home, stand on the glowing Ferry Stop on Coralhaven's plaza and press E while the ferry waits above.
- It's free, and everyone rides the same ferry together.
A busy sea
- Sailboats, yachts, fishing boats and a cargo ship out on the horizon.
- Near the shore: surfers, kayakers, paddleboarders, jet skis, a water-skier, a parasailer and swimmers.
Sunny Shores Beach Club
- Just past the lighthouse: sunbeds you can sit on, cabanas, a smoothie bar with its own steel-drum tune, an ice-cream cart and a volleyball court.
- Say hi to the Lifeguard, the Smoothie Maker and a friendly Beachgoer.
Better on phones and tablets
Beta
Install the game on Android, bigger and clearer touch buttons, a HUD size you choose, and nothing overlapping when you turn your phone sideways.
Install it
- Android: open the site in Chrome, tap the three dots, then Install app. The game opens in its own window from your home screen.
- iPhone and iPad: in Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
Touch controls
- Every button for walking, driving, flying, the jetpack and swimming now has a picture and a word, its own color, and shows when you press it.
- Settings has HUD size: Small, Normal or Large. Phones start a little smaller than before, so you see more of the world.
- Held sideways or upright, on phones and tablets, the buttons, joystick, map and messages no longer cover each other.
- The game no longer switches to full screen by itself. Settings has a Full screen button where your browser allows it.
Trade critters with your friends
Beta
Got two of the same critter? Swap one with a friend standing nearby - you both choose, you both press OK, and the trade happens in one go.
Trading
- When you have a spare critter and a friend is close, their name tag shows a dotted line - tap it to ask them to trade. Or use the Trade button in your Critter Journal.
- Each of you picks a critter you have two or more of. Glimmering ones count as their own kind.
- You both see both offers and both press OK; changing an offer clears both OKs.
- You always keep at least one of each kind. There is nothing to type, and bots never trade.
- Your Journal remembers who you traded with.
Fixes: Unstuck, clearer screen, and a click to swing
Beta
An Unstuck button, world-event news at the top of the screen, the action bar out of the way, the item you hold in your hand and on your Attack key - and left click to swing, right click to build.
Fixed and improved
- Unstuck: a button at the top of Settings pops you out of any tight spot - even in a car or a seat.
- World bosses and events now show in a strip at the top of the screen, never in the middle.
- Drive a car into another zone and it stays where you parked it - and works - until you walk well away.
- The weapon or charm you equip now shows in your hand, and your weapon shows on the Attack key.
- Settings always shows Ultra (grayed out with the reason if your computer can't run it) and Voices (on the way).
- On computers the action bar and item slots sit at the bottom right, so nothing covers the E prompt.
- Doing something during a Home stone cast now cancels the cast cleanly instead of leaving it stuck.
- Mouse: left click swings what you hold, right click opens the builder on your lot. E opens doors and talks to people.
On the way
- "Create something new" now appears in the build panel with its prices - ordering switches on as soon as the art studio is ready to build your orders.
A tidier Home stone
Beta
The Home stone now lists your homes first, then one spot for each town you have visited - no more long lists of every shop and hospital.
Home stone
- Your homes - every lot or building you own - come first.
- Then one entry for each town you have been to, landing you on its main square.
- Towns you have never visited are not listed: walk there once, and it is one tap away after that.
Fix: signing up is smoother, and your account is safe
Beta
Signing up now always finishes and takes you straight to naming your character, with clearer help along the way - and an account with a character is never removed for an unconfirmed email.
Signing up
- After signing up you go straight to naming your character, then into the realm with Pip.
- If something goes wrong, the message says what to do - and keeps what you already typed.
- Under 13? The form suggests asking a parent to help, and a parent's email is fine.
- On phones the sign-up button is always on screen.
Fixed
- Accounts that have a character are never cleaned up for an unconfirmed email.
Critters: 33 creatures to find and collect
Beta
Little critters now live all over the realm - in meadows, woods, farms, by the sea, among crystals and in town, some only at night or in the rain. Catch them with a Glow Jar and fill your Critter Journal.
Catch them
- 33 original critters to find, each at home in its own places - some only come out at night or when it rains.
- Walk up, toss a Glow Jar at the right moment, and it is yours. Rarer critters are trickier to catch.
- Glow Jars are sold in the store for points and turn up as loot.
- Look out for the rare Glimmering ones - they sparkle.
Your Critter Journal
- Every critter you have seen and caught, and where; silhouettes show the ones still to find.
- Catching one again gives Critter Snacks to level up your favorites.
- Pick one to follow you around. It pops away when you get in a vehicle and back when you get out.
- Points for every new kind, a bonus for completing a zone, and a Top finders board.
Dive in: sea life, and the underwater town of Coralhaven
Beta
The sea, lakes and river now have real depth. Dive down among coral reefs, kelp forests, turtles and a friendly whale - and follow the red buoys from Saltmere's Long Pier to Coralhaven, a town under the sea.
Swimming
- The water has a real bottom now: about 20 m deep out at sea, 5 m in the lakes and 2 m in the river.
- On a computer, C dives and Space swims back up; on phones and iPads, use the Up and Dive buttons.
- The camera follows you smoothly under the surface. Underwater the light turns blue-green, sunbeams shine down and sound goes soft and muffled.
- No breath meter - you can explore as long as you like.
Under the sea
- Coral reefs, kelp forests, shells and starfish; schools of fish, rays, sea turtles, friendly glowing jellyfish, crabs and a big friendly whale far out.
- The lakes and the river have reeds, lily pads and little fish.
Coralhaven
- Follow the red buoys from Saltmere's Long Pier to the glowing Beacon, then dive: a town under a great dome of air.
- Walk the dry plaza - a fountain, market stalls and the Sunken Library - and meet the Tidefolk, who love a sea pun.
Behind the scenes: a lighter download
BetaBehind the scenes
The realm now downloads about 160 KB less before you can play, making room for what is coming next. Nothing looks or plays differently.
What changed
- Parts of the 3D engine the realm never used are no longer downloaded.
- The store, the build panel, the talk box and the meme picker load quietly just after the realm appears.
Your companion comes along for the ride
Beta
Small companions now hop into your car, cart or hover and ride along; horses, and any companion when you fly, wait out of sight and pop back beside you when you get out.
Companions and vehicles
- Dogs, cats, rabbits, foxes, hens, mosslings and boltpups hop in and ride along - a dog in the back of a car leans out of the window.
- They hop out beside you when you get out, and stay with you across zone borders.
- Horses are too big for a car: they vanish in a puff and pop back when you get out.
- In planes, jets and helicopters your companion waits out of sight and reappears when you are back on the ground - even after a parachute jump.
Monsters in the wild, world bosses and world events
Beta
Camps of goblins, wolves, orcs, bandits, crabs, imps and robots now dot the open country. Six world bosses and four kinds of world event are announced to the whole realm when they begin.
Creatures
- 78 camps in the country, each fitting its zone: goblins and beetles in Greenhollow, wolves, spiders and orcs in Thornwood, orcs and bandits round Stonewatch, crabs and frog-folk at Saltmere, imps and crystal walkers at Emberfall, robots, drones and golems at Ashfall. Basecamp stays safe.
- They are tougher the further you go from town. Get close and they shout, chase and swing; run far enough and they give up and head home.
- Beaten creatures vanish in sparkles and pay points and loot to everyone who helped. A knock-out is the usual short lie-down - you never lose anything.
World bosses and events
- Six world bosses, one per zone - like the Goblin King in The Long Acres - with big health bars, three phases and glowing warnings before their big attacks. Bring friends.
- World events: goblin and gillfolk raids, a meteor shower that leaves treasure, and an orc warband marching on a town.
- When a boss or event starts, everyone in the realm sees a banner, a chat line, a map marker and a beam of light pointing the way.
Night falls, and the weather rolls in
Beta
The realm now has days and nights - stars, a moon, lamps and lit windows - and weather fronts that move across the zones: rain, thunderstorms, fog, wind, and snow in the cold hills.
Day and night
- A realm day lasts about 48 minutes: long bright days, short dusks and dawns, and ten minutes of night.
- At night the stars and moon come out, street lamps glow and windows light up. Crickets and owls sing when it is dark.
- Lantern oil now lights your way at night.
Weather
- Clear skies, clouds, rain, thunderstorms with lightning, fog and wind drift across the realm; snow falls on cold days in Thornwood and Emberfall.
- On computers the roads get wet and puddled, and snow settles on the ground.
- You hear the rain, the wind and distant thunder - and rain on the roof when you are indoors.
- Townsfolk chat about the weather, and a zone gets a heads-up when a storm is coming. The weather never hurts anyone.
A tour for new characters
Beta
Pip, Basecamp's Realm Guide, now meets every new character and shows them the ropes - walking, jumping, talking, loot, the bag, driving and chat - one step at a time.
Pip's tour
- Naming a character takes you straight into the realm, where Pip is waiting.
- One short step at a time, with pictures and the right buttons for your computer, phone or iPad; each step ticks off when you actually do it.
- Finish the tour for 100 points (straight to level 2) and a Glow Pebble - plus the Foam Sword Pip gives you along the way.
- Skip any time. Take the tour again from Settings, Help, or by asking Pip.
- Already playing? You will be asked once if you would like a quick tour.
A living countryside, and friends
Beta
The open country is full now - flowers, bushes, hedgerows, lamp-lit roads, 32 little places to find, town crowds and hikers, birds and balloons. And a Friends list shows where your friends are and takes you to them.
A fuller world
- Wildflowers, bushes, stones, logs, ferns, mushrooms and hedgerows across the country; dune grass and driftwood by the sea; crystals in Emberfall.
- Country roads have lamp posts, fences, milestones and benches; Ashfall has pylons, glowing shards and steaming vents.
- 32 little places to find: picnics with kites, a playground, beehives, a campsite, an archery range, fairy rings, floating rune stones and more.
- People stroll the town pavements and wave as you pass; hikers walk the country roads; birds, hot-air balloons and butterflies fill the sky.
- On computers the grass sways in the wind and parts as you walk through it.
Friends
- A new Friends button (or press O). Add someone by name; once you have both added each other you can see if they are online and where.
- Press Go to join them - it uses your Home stone and sets you right beside them, even in a busy zone's other copy.
A gym in every town, and change your name
Beta
Every town now has its own gym, and your character page has a Change name button that keeps everything - your level, lots, items, pets, look, Strength and Stamina.
Gyms everywhere
- Haybale Training Yard (Greenhollow), The Squires' Yard (Stonewatch), Dockside Gym (Saltmere), The Timber Gym (Thornwood), The Crystal Studio (Emberfall) and The Scrapyard Gym (Ashfall) - alongside the Iron Yard in Basecamp.
- Each has Strength and Stamina stations and its own gym regular. They are on the map.
Your name
- Change name on your character page: same character, new name - once a week.
- Deleting a character no longer loses your Strength and Stamina; your next character gets them back.
Fixed
- Players who had opened a locked chest or dug up treasure can delete their character again.
Every animal is real now
Beta
The last animals that were still boxes now have real bodies, designed by the realm's art studio: goats, ducks, gulls, herons, crabs, frogs, pigeons, crows, owls, squirrels - and our own creatures.
New animals up close (on computers)
- Farms: goats. Water and shore: swimming ducks, gulls, herons, crabs and frogs.
- Towns and woods: pigeons, crows, owls, and squirrels that sit up to eat.
- Pets: mosslings and boltpups, doing their tricks.
- Emberfall: mossbacks, prismhorns, puffcaps and lumen moths. Ashfall: rustbacks, clockwork scuttlers and floating hoverjellies.
- Phones keep the simpler animals, to stay fast.
The Iron Yard is open: train Strength and Stamina
Beta
Basecamp's gym now works. Press E on a machine to do a set - bench press, pull-ups, curls, treadmill, bike, battle ropes or laps of the court - and earn XP and points as your Strength and Stamina level up.
Train
- Six new machines at The Iron Yard: treadmills, exercise bikes, battle ropes and a dumbbell rack, beside the benches and pull-up bars.
- Press E on a machine (or run laps of the half court) to do a 6-second set: +XP and a few points each time.
- Strength and Stamina level up to 20. Strength hits and smashes a little harder; Stamina heals a little faster and runs a touch quicker.
- Your levels show in your bag and on your character page. The gym regular cheers when you level up.
Fix: the car you take comes with you
Beta
On computers, taking a parked car in Basecamp or Saltmere left the car behind while you drove off in thin air. Now the car moves with you, and everyone sees it.
Fixed
- Take any parked car and it drives away with you - on every screen watching, not just yours.
- A car left somewhere else shows where it was left, and goes back to its bay whole.
Fix: touch controls on every iPad, and a joystick you can see
Beta
iPads now always get the touch controls - joystick and action buttons - even with a keyboard or Pencil attached, and the joystick is always shown at the bottom left.
Fixed
- Every iPad, iPhone and Android phone or tablet gets the touch controls, even with a keyboard, trackpad or Pencil.
- The joystick always shows at the bottom left: push it to walk, or touch anywhere on the left side and it jumps to your thumb.
- Bigger action buttons on tablets, and nothing on screen ever covers them - walking, driving, flying or jetpacking, upright or sideways.
- New in Settings: Touch controls - Auto, On or Off.
Living flames and glowing screens
Beta
On computers, campfires now burn with real moving flames and arcade cabinets play a moving screen. More effects - water, foam, lanterns - arrive by themselves as the art studio finishes them.
Effects
- Campfires have moving flames; torches and Stonewatch's lamp posts flicker too.
- Arcade and dance machines show a moving screen.
- Fountain and Moonwell water, harbor foam and market lanterns are ready and will come alive as their clips are finished.
- Phones look and run exactly as before.
Ultra: photo-real ground and skies
Beta
On computers with a real graphics card, the realm's ground, walls, roofs, roads and leaves now use photographed materials, and each zone has a real photographed sky that lights the world.
Ultra look
- Grass, soil, forest floor, roads, cobbles, stucco, thatch and leaves in photographed detail that catches the sun.
- Each zone has its own real sky, and the light on the ground comes from it; walking between zones blends one sky into the next.
- New sign boards: Greenhollow Grain and Stonewatch Bakehouse, and a steel mural in Ashfall.
- Settings has an Ultra switch under Graphics quality. If the game starts to stutter, Ultra is the first thing it turns down.
- Phones and ordinary computers look and run exactly as before, and download none of it.
Credits
- The credits page now says which art is made with AI tools and checked before it goes live, and credits the photo libraries.
Fix: everyone plays in the same realm
Beta
An account without a character could open the realm and wander an empty copy of it alone. Now it is asked to name a character first, and then joins everyone else.
Fixed
- If your account has no character yet, Enter the realm now takes you to name one first - then you are in the shared realm with everyone else.
Bigger herds, and companions that sit
Beta
Up to twelve animals in a herd or a farmyard now show as real animals at once, and a resting companion sits down instead of lying on its side.
Animals
- Twelve real animals at once in a herd or on a farm, up from six.
- Leave your companion standing for a while and it sits down to rest - cats and hens in their own sit, dogs and foxes on their haunches, horses resting on their feet with their heads low.
A countryside full of real animals
Beta
Cats, rabbits, hens, cows, sheep, pigs, wild boar, deer and leaping fish are now real animated animals up close - and your companion lies down for a rest when you stand still.
Real animals
- Cats (ginger, black, gray, white), rabbits, hens, cows and a bull, sheep, pigs, wild boar, deer and stags, and fish that leap nearby.
- Horses now show their own coat color; dogs, foxes and horses can graze and lie down.
- Grazers graze, herds run from you, hens peck, rabbits hop and sit up.
- Tricks use each animal's own moves - a cat really sits.
- Computers show the real animals up close; phones keep the simpler ones, to stay fast.
Chests, treasure maps, build plans - and the Laser Sword
Beta
Keys now open locked chests, map scraps join into treasure maps, knock-outs in Ashfall drop build plans, legendaries are properly rare, and real weapons like the Laser Sword hit hard.
Chests and treasure
- 164 locked chests around the realm: iron ones everywhere, silver at places worth a visit, one crystal chest hidden in each far zone.
- The right key opens a chest for a better haul - sometimes a build plan or a real weapon. Each chest refills for you on a timer.
- Four Map Scraps join into a treasure map. Follow the hint; an X shows on the ground and the minimap when you are close. Dig with E or a shovel.
Build plans
- Plans unlock a building piece for your lot, whatever your level - the castles and the dance club are the rarest.
- A plan you already have pays points instead.
- Knock someone out in Ashfall's PvP and a bundle drops where they fell, often with a plan inside. The loser never loses anything; the winner gets first grab.
Rarer, stronger
- Legendaries are now about 1 in 1,000 in town and 1 in 100 at the luckiest spots.
- Real weapons: the Laser Sword (four colors, glowing and humming), the Energy Staff, the Plasma Axe and the Crystal Greatsword. Toy weapons are still soft bops.
- A knock-out now leaves you on the ground for two seconds before you wake up somewhere safe.
A realm eight times bigger - and every building for sale
Beta
Each zone is now about three times as wide and deep, with the towns in the middle and open country all around: forests, meadows, lakes, a river with bridges and country roads. And every house, shop and special place can now be bought.
Bigger realm
- The realm is about eight and a half times the size it was. The seven towns are just as they were, now in the middle of their zones.
- Around them: 24 named forests, meadows and fields, seven lakes, the Silverrun river with three bridges, and country roads between the towns.
- Ten quiet scenic spots to find out in the country.
- Treasure lies all over the new country - about four times as many spots as before.
- Your lot and everything on it moved with your town and stands exactly where you put it.
Buy any building
- Every house and shop can be bought from the store's Buildings tab, with points or tokens.
- Furnish it (E inside), lock it, give friends a key, or sell it back for half.
- Your name goes up over the door.
- Buy a special place - the airfield, a hospital, the car dealership or the real estate agent's - and the realm builds everyone another one out in the country.
Moves: swings, flinches and real animal companions
Beta
Characters now move like they mean it - swords slash, axes come down overhead, wands point and fire - and your dog, fox or horse companion is a real animated animal that runs after you and does its tricks.
Moves
- Attack with a weapon plays that weapon's move: sword slashes, overhead axe and hammer blows, wands and bows pointed and loosed.
- Getting hit makes you flinch; a knock-out throws you on your back, and you get up where you wake.
- Drinking a potion, picking something up and giving a treat all show on your character.
- Jumps have a proper take-off, air and landing.
- G opens the emote wheel on foot (and still honks the horn in a car).
Companions
- Dogs, foxes and horses are now real animated animals up close on computers: they walk, gallop after you and do all eight tricks.
- Phones keep the simpler animals, to stay fast.
New looks from the art studio, and a paint shop
Beta
The realm's art studio now makes new character looks and vehicle paint jobs by itself, and they arrive while you play. Paint your own car at the new Paint shop.
New looks
- New character looks turn up in the wardrobe and the store with a "New" badge - more arrive over time, no update needed.
- Some are free; the rest cost points or tokens, like the other looks.
Paint shop
- The store has a Paint shop: pick a paint job, pick one of your vehicles, press Paint - everyone nearby sees it.
- Traffic and the airfield's aircraft wear the new paint jobs too.
The realm sounds like its places
Beta
Campfires crackle, fountains splash, the sea washes the shore, markets chatter and every zone has its own background air. Cars have real engines and a horn - press G.
Around you
- Every zone has its own air: busy town streets, birds and wind over the fields, forest, village, sea and gulls, wind chimes, machinery.
- Things sound from where they are: campfires and torches, fountains, waves, markets, the plaza crowd, smiths' anvils, the Tourney Ground, farm animals and the country's herds.
- At night the country turns to crickets and owls; a rooster greets the dawn.
- Sounds fade with distance and muffle behind walls, and crossing into the next zone blends one into the other.
On the move
- Engines that rise with your speed - a car, a cart's wooden wheels, a hover's hum, a helicopter's rotor, a plane, a jet.
- Press G (or the Horn button) while driving to honk; people near you hear it. The traffic honks too.
- Tires squeal when you brake hard, footsteps change with the ground, and you hear a thud when you land.
Settings
- A new Ambience volume and mute (it starts at 70%). Engines, horns and footsteps follow the Sound volume.
Bug fixes, and treasure to find
Beta
Walk and drive between zones, jump, build, name your lot and talk to anyone - and the realm is now scattered with swords, shields, charms, potions and snacks to pick up, carry and use.
Fixed
- Walking and driving across a zone's edge now carries you straight into the next one.
- Your own vehicles drive properly, and the car moves with you.
- Jump (Space) works again.
- Build (E on your lot) opens the builder again.
- Name your lot: its sign shows the name to everyone.
- Press E on any townsperson, bot or shopkeeper to talk to them.
- Zone chat shows again, and Tab opens and closes the chat line.
- Cars (yours and the traffic) no longer jitter.
Treasure
- Seventy things to find, each fitting where it lies: toy swords in town, knights' swords in Stonewatch, bows in the woods, wands in Emberfall.
- Look for the glint on the ground; rare finds shine a column of light you can see from far away.
- Potions, bandages, apples, bread, stew and more put your health back; a fizzy drink makes you fast for a while, and a feather lets you drift down slowly.
- B or I opens your bag; keys 5 to 8 are a quick bar.
- Hold a sword, shield or charm and everyone can see it; a weapon knocks things down faster.
- Health: falls and crashes take a little. Run out and you wake up at the nearest hospital or your own lot, having lost nothing.
Behind the scenes: voices for the townsfolk
BetaBehind the scenes
The realm can now let its people speak their lines aloud, from where they stand, only when you are close. It stays switched off until the voices that power it are ready.
What is coming
- When someone nearby says something, you will hear it in their own voice - a gruff guard, a warm real estate agent, a herald.
- Voices fade with distance and never overlap more than two at a time; your own chat is never read aloud.
- Settings has a Voices volume and mute (phones start muted, to save data).
Memes in chat
Beta
Make a meme and send it: pick an original picture, add a top and bottom line (or tap a suggested caption), and it shows in the chat and in your speech bubble.
Memes
- A Meme button at the end of the chat line opens the meme maker.
- Original pictures made for the realm, with caption ideas you can tap to use.
- Memes show in the chat log and pop up in your speech bubble for everyone nearby.
- Captions are checked like any chat message, and blocking and reporting work on memes too.
Smash anything, and a pet of your own
Beta
Everything in the realm can now be knocked down for points - houses, trees, landmarks, parked cars - and it all comes back. The countryside is full of animals, and a stray can become your companion.
Smash anything
- Every building, tree, rock, fence, sign and landmark can be knocked down - with Attack, or by driving into it.
- Buildings squash into a cartoon heap (anyone inside is popped safely outside); parked cars pop apart.
- Everything comes back: small things in under a minute, buildings in a few minutes, landmarks a little longer - never on top of you.
- Bigger things pay more points.
- Your own lot is safe unless you switch on "Let others wreck it for fun" in the store's Lots page.
Animals and pets
- Hundreds of animals in the fields, woods and water: deer, rabbits, foxes, owls, cows, horses, ducks, frogs, herons and more - and new creatures in Emberfall and Ashfall.
- Find treats in the wild or buy them in the store's Pets page.
- Feed a stray a few treats and it becomes your companion: it follows you everywhere, even across zones, and you can name it.
- Companions level up and learn tricks - sit, spin, jump, roll over, fetch, dance, play dead, high five. Press P or type /pet sit.
Jokes, The Realm Daily, and color
Beta
The townsfolk have fresh jokes and puns every day and something to talk about: The Realm Daily, a family-friendly board of the day's space pictures, history and good news. Buildings and vehicles can now come in color, starting with two very special homes.
Jokes and small talk
- New dad jokes, puns, riddles and knock-knock jokes arrive every morning, checked to be family-friendly.
- People tell the jokes that suit them: the herald's royal puns, the campers' campfire jokes, farm jokes in Greenhollow.
- Ask anyone to "tell me a joke" or "what's new?".
The Realm Daily
- A board of the day's topics - space pictures, on this day in history, science and good news - with votes and comments.
- Read it on the website or at the notice board in Basecamp (press E).
- Everything players write is checked before anyone else sees it, and anyone can report a post.
Color
- Buildings, furniture and vehicles can carry a color or a finish - pinks, golds, onyx and more.
- Two new homes: a pink fairytale castle and a dance club with a light-up floor.
Drive and fly anywhere, and a parachute
Beta
Cars, carts, hovers, helicopters, planes and jets now carry on across zone borders with you at the wheel - and jumping out of an aircraft in the air opens a parachute.
Across the realm
- Drive or fly straight from one zone into the next, over any border and corner, even high in the air.
- Your own vehicle stays where you park it, even in another zone.
- The driving camera stays with you as you cross.
Parachute
- Press E in the air to jump out: a red-and-cream canopy opens and you float down, steering with W A S D.
- It can drift across a zone border, and you land on your feet.
- Own the jetpack? Press F to swap the parachute for it.
Music, and a home for the realm
Beta
The realm has a soundtrack now - calm music that fits each zone, and a car radio - and the whole website is about the realm: a new front page, a features page and this changelog.
Music
- Every zone has its own music: downtown jazz, farmland folk, medieval lutes, harbor bossa, woodland harp and flute, fantasy celesta and calm sci-fi synths.
- Gentle pauses between tracks, calmer tunes indoors and at night, and a soft crossfade when you cross into another zone.
- Car radio with four stations - switch with the Radio button while driving, or N.
- Music has its own volume and mute in Settings; every track is credited on the Credits page.
The website
- A new front page with screenshots of the realm, its seven zones and its places.
- A features page and this changelog.
- Your dashboard shows your level, points, lots and what is new.
Behind the scenes
- The NPCs can now think up their own replies and small talk (they used ready-made lines before).
Behind the scenes: the art workshop
BetaBehind the scenes
The realm gets an art workshop of its own. Around the clock it finds, tests and prepares more detailed ground, wall, roof and sky textures for the top quality setting on desktop computers. Nothing changes in the game yet.
What it does
- It runs on our own machines, day and night, and looks for textures that suit each zone's style.
- Everything it has chosen so far is a free, public-domain photo scan: grass, earth, cobbles, brick, plaster, rock, thatch and six skies.
- A texture only goes in if it passes a strict check: it must fit its zone, repeat without visible seams, and hold up beside a real photograph.
When you will see it
- Not yet. The new textures arrive in the game with a later release, on the top quality setting for desktop computers.
- Phones and the other quality settings keep today's look.
Open beta
Beta
The realm opens to everyone with an account. Zone borders blend, buildings open, places to visit in every zone, people with daily lives, points and levels, a store, things to smash, a jetpack, aircraft, a Home button and eighteen new looks.
Everyone can play
- Majic Realm is open to every signed-in player as an open beta. Playing is free.
- The site is now all about the realm.
- Bot players carry a <Bot> tag over their heads, so you always know who is a person.
A world without hard edges
- Zone borders blend over a wide, wandering band instead of a hard line: roads, verges and grass carry across, and corners mix three or four styles.
- Coasts have shallows, beaches and a wandering waterline, and the sea runs on past the edge of the world.
- The sky, fog and light change gradually as you walk from one zone into the next.
Buildings you can walk into
- About 150 bigger houses and shops, and every one can be entered. Doors open and shut for everyone.
- Some homes are locked, and say so politely.
- Furnished rooms inside, and the camera comes in close when you are indoors.
- Each zone has its own building style and props, from ten new free art packs.
Places to go
- Twenty-one places of interest, two to five in every zone.
- Greenhollow Airfield with a runway and hangars; two hospitals with helipads on their roofs.
- Basecamp Motors, a forecourt of cars you can drive, and Keystone Realty, where lots are sold.
- Campers' Clearing with its fire, the King's Road parade route, a lighthouse, an observatory and a starship wreck.
People with lives
- Townsfolk with personalities: an office worker stuck in meetings, a content creator, a barista and more.
- Everyone follows a daily routine through a twenty-minute day.
- Talk to the real estate agent or the car salesperson and the store opens at their page.
- Campers at the clearing, something big and hairy roaming Thornwood, and a royal parade in Stonewatch.
- At least one bot player in every zone. People only chat to you when you are nearby.
Points, levels and the store
- Earn points by playing and go up ten levels. Classes are gone: your level is what you have earned.
- The store sells lots, a lot with a castle keep, a cart, a car or a hover of your own, the jetpack, two speed boosts and extra lot slots - for points you earn or for tokens.
- Levels open more building patterns and a second and third lot.
Smash it
- Drive through lamps, benches, stalls, trees and old walls, or smash crates and barrels on foot.
- Everything comes back after half a minute or so, and every break is worth points.
Getting about
- A jetpack: fly anywhere, fast. Walk at two or five times the speed with the boosts.
- Mouse controls: left-click to use things, hold both buttons to walk, drag to turn, wheel to zoom.
- A chase camera when you drive.
- The Home button: a short cast that takes you to any place of interest or to your own lot.
Aircraft
- Fly a helicopter, a light plane or a jet. Planes and jets wait on the airfield apron; helicopters sit on the hospital roofs.
- A crash throws the pilot clear, and the aircraft is back ten seconds later.
Looks
- Eighteen new character looks: six free for everyone, twelve to earn or buy.
- A wardrobe with a turning preview, in the game and on the site.
- Wave and cheer emotes everyone around you can see.
The map and the screen
- The minimap zooms in and out and shows buildings, places of interest, other players' builds and your own lots in gold.
- A slider sizes the whole HUD from 75% to 150%.
First light: the alpha on production
Alpha
The first production deploy of the realm, walked by admins before it opened: seven zones in seven styles, traffic, townsfolk and animals, a HUD, lots to claim and a castle to walk into.
The world
- Seven zones, each in its own style: Basecamp, Greenhollow, Stonewatch, Saltmere, Thornwood, Emberfall and Ashfall, each with its own towns and a landmark.
- Walk from one zone into the next with no loading screen.
- Everyone arrives by the Standing Lamp in Basecamp.
- Real 3D models on desktops - houses, shops, cars, street lights, trees - from free, openly licensed art packs, credited on the Credits page.
Life in the realm
- Townsfolk with daily routines, vendors, greeters and guards; sheep grazing, deer that run from you and pets that follow their owners.
- Named people you can talk to, who answer back.
- Cars, carts and hovers drive their own lanes, stop at the capital's traffic lights and brake for people.
Things to do
- Sit on benches, pick up herbs, coins and crates, and drive parked cars, carts and hovers.
- Claim a lot of your own and build on it; lock your plot, your home and your vehicles.
- Walk into a castle keep: solid walls, stairs, an upper floor and doors that open.
Talking
- Say (nearby, with speech bubbles) and General (the whole zone).
- Bad words are masked, and you can block and report.
The screen
- A HUD with your level, zone banners, a round minimap, an action bar, chat and settings.
- The camera follows behind you and stops short of walls and roofs.
- Touch controls on phones, and sound effects with a volume slider.
Your account
- Forgot your password? A one-time link to your own email.
- One character, one body: signing in somewhere new replaces the old session.
